Also, the bee goodie hoard had a spellbook that featured Sticky Flame. Fourth level spells are hungerless for me, and I've been thinking of learning a new damage dealing spell, since all I got now is Mystic Blast. I think I'll memorize this, especially since I already got Controlled Amnesia in case I don't find a use for it.
Definitely memorize that. It's a wonderful spell, that with mephitic cloud is what I've been using to help kill most things, especially the elves, various giants and uniques. Though now at Vault 8, it's starting to feel a bit less effective.

Sticky flame is an amazing spell and stacks with poison and makes invisible creatures visible as long as it burns. Also the a Mottled Draconian gets it as its breath weapon.

By that point a lot of things either rPois or have so many HD that they're hard to confuse with MC and Sticky Flame just doesn't do enough damage to dent their health. That's why, you know, it's so hard.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Question,
I am currently at the level where i had the Lair entrance, i am followed by 5 Wandering Mushroom.
There is the Hive there too, and was going to be my next destination, for food.

There was a part of this floor i did not explored yet.
And i just found the altar of Jiyva.

I am thinking then, i will try to get the rune that is in Swamp after having done Hive, only if i find a few fruits first for the Oklob power.

A possibility if in the very hypothetical case i survive and get the swamp rune, after that could be to come back there and switch to Jiyva to try to get an easy slime rune.

But reading a bit about Fedhas, i doubt my character would survive the wrath of Fedhas, as having several hostile Oklob spawning around me would be lethal to my wizard relatively low health.

Is the Jiyva switch a viable strategy or should it be attempted only at very high level to survive Fedhas anger ?

I'm not sure about switching to Jiyva, but I would like to note that oklobs probably won't be that useful in Slime because acid blobs and the royal jelly (and possibly other slimes too) are immune to acid dmg.

It can kill Oklob's really quickly, and the anti invisibility is nice too.

Ustxu Iceraped the Frigid Crystal of Slaughter was a glacier titan. It was the only one of its kind. A gigantic feathered carp composed of crystal glass. It has five mouths full of treacherous teeth, enormous clear wings, and ferocious blue eyes. Beware its icy breath! Ustxu was associated with oceans, glaciers, boats, and murder.

Well, you can only ditch Fedhas if you can survive the wrath. If you don't think you can survive, don't do it. Remember that it's Oklobs and Wandering Mushrooms too, so Clarity and rCorr would be nice.

I'm considering ditching Vehumet for Zin, but I've already been banished once and barely survived. I don't think I can do it again, especially if I'm getting nasty conjuration miscasts all the while AND living with my "You move slowly" and Statrot 2 mutations. On the other hand, I really, really, really need to get rid of them or I'm going to die.

Oklobs are a mid-game threat, not an end-game threat like the critters in Vault:8

I'm now at Vault:7, and I've found like three bazaars here. Too bad I blew all my money on the Armour of the Dragon King. :P Well, it's not like I desperately need anything. I could use a spellbook to teach me flight or levitation, and there was a scroll of acquirement for sale in a regular dungeon shop, but otherwise I'm good. I did use some money on buying more bread rations and a bunch of identify scrolls. Those are likely to get used eventually.

And Sticky Flame is definitely useful. And my spriggan movement speed ensures that no matter what I am facing, I can always retreat while things burn.

So, what's in Vault:8? Should I dive in and see if I can manage the place, or go explore the main dungeon some more? Or perhaps the Vault sub-branches? Crypt and Hall of Blades. I'm level 20, and have a whole bunch of summoning decks.

You should be able to do Vault:8 and Crypt:4. However, the weapons in Blade are quite resistant to damage in general and can have brands up to and including distortion, so prepare for banishment.

I would do Crypt first, since everything there is Sticky Flame vulnerable. Well, depending on what Crypt:4 vault you wind up with, of course. And if you're just going to spam summons, you might as well do Tomb since your summons will be eating all the death curses.

Vault:8 is packed full of monsters. Around 25 vault guards surround the staircases. You can find ancient liches, elven annihilators, various giants, shadow dragons, shapeshifters, and quicksilver dragons in the treasure vaults. There are 4 vaults and one of them has the rune. A few swarms of wasps (from Foxfire cards) can clear out the place pretty easily.

Finally managed to clear Hive, less problems than i thought considering the bee nests i encountered in the dungeon, certainly because unlike the bee nests, in Hive you don't have that much bees jumping on you, usually at max i fought 3 at a time.
Strangely no bee queen.

But i lost 5 Wandering Mushroom to them, fortunately easily replaced by using Fedhas powers on the bee corpses.

In the end i managed to get a little more than 30 honeycombs and 10 royal jellies.
And great news, in Hive i found 3 fruits.

Will be a very great help to get 3 Oklob turrets if i manage to approach the Swamp rune.
I remember earlier when i found the entrance to an ice cavern , it was guarded by an Ice Dragon and a few polar bears.
Poor things, they were killed very quickly by 2 Oklobs i summoned in desesperation when i saw the Ice Dragon shooting everything.

I never went into that ice cavern actually, because the only worthy damaging spell i have are ice based, and i doubt an ice cavern is populated by monster with ice weakness.

Unfortunately despite cleaning Hive and Orc Mines entirely, my character is always at level 13.
I wonder, should i go into the main dungeon for more time, or should i go to Swamp now ?
Here is my character dump for now

Mostly polar bears and wolves, actually. The endboss is, of course, ice resistant (ice giant, ice statue, ice dragon, ect), but hey, free polar bear kills!

Probably has, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Polar bears are actually pretty strong.

Khufu dead and I'm still alive, seems like a good place to stop for today. I cleared the main dungeon all the way to the gates of Zot with relative ease. Now with that Khufu guy gone, I'll go rest of Crypt, dispelling everything and then return, first to Vault 8, then to Elf 7 to show who's the boss around here.

I'm at XL 25 now, which is a whopping 3 levels more than I've ever had. I'm starting to be rather melee capable too, beating yaktaur captains with my axe.

P.S. If I see one more Stone Giant I'm going to scream. I've killed dozens and dozens of those and it's just tedious: Sticky flame, draindraindraindraindrain. Or Sticky Flame, runrun, sticky flame, runrunrun. I learned poisonous cloud though, which makes them go down a lot faster.

P.P.S. Oh yeah, I seem to have mysteriously lost one level of rN+. I had 2 for a long time and now there's just one. I had no equipment giving that so I have no idea what's going on. Makes Shadow Dragons a lot more annoying.
