That's what I meant by "You have to dive very fast" since you're going to be burning food off very fast if you berserk even occasionally. Once you clear Hive things get much easier, but before then you're basically racing to get rPois and get to Hive ASAP.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Playing obscure race/class combinations was what we excelled at in the last tournament. My own list of top scores was:
Code: [Select]
DEHe, DrCK, SpWz, CeAr, DrHu, OgIE, KeHu, HEHe, DrAr, SEHu, KeWn, DEAr, DDCjand the one of Ealbright, with a winning 23 top scores:
Code: [Select]
HaFE, SEBe, KoDK, DECK, KoWn, DrSt, DDEn, MuTm, HaVM, DEBe, HaAr, HaWr, DEPr, HuGl, DEPa, NaSu, HaWn, HEMo, MuBe, TrNe, KeEE, DrFi, TrSt

Anyway, I guess I won't be joining the Intermediate team, as it's already filled up. Welcome, Mr. Person and Zironic!

With 3 spaces left in all teams put together after one and a half days of signups, we'll almost surely need at least a fourth one. Now I'm just wondering if it should be over or under Intermediate. Let's see a few more signups and see which direction they'll go. I put an extra slot on Miners for this purpose.

Personally, I'd rather the new team was somewhere between intermediate and soaper since I think there's a pretty big area between "D:10" and "first rune".

I'm willing to join any team.

I've gotten a rune once or twice before using a sluge elf ice elementalist and a naga transmuter that worshipped the big ol slug. :P

Maybe i should be more on the beginner team, as despite i have got some runes in a few very lucky run, i am far, far from getting a rune regularly like some people apparently do.

Pshht, Robsoie, I'm listed on the expert team and I definitely don't get runes regularly. You'll do fine. Demos is one of the few players (if not the only one here) that can do that, at least based on the CAO statistics (7 games, 3 of them wins and 2 with over 350 000 points.)

What limit do you guys think would be good between intermediate and beginner? Orc Mines cleared? Lair sidebranches reached?

Welcome Empty, I'll put you on the Intermediate team for now, you can then choose the upper or lower one when it's figured out.

Is there perhaps some place like a chat room or an irc channel where we can talk with each other?

I won several times offline, so I consider my online stats to be pretty bad.  :( I think these are good measurements of experience:

Team 1 (Bay12 Soapers) - Reached the Temple
Team 2 (Bay12 Miners)- Reached the Lair
Team 3 (Bay12 Blacksmiths) - Got a rune
Team 4 (Bay12 Champions) - Got multiple runes or won

Is there perhaps some place like a chat room or an irc channel where we can talk with each other?

There's ##crawl on freenode. I sometimes hang around in there.

Any idea when the full tiles version will be playable online? Would love to join one of these in the future, but I -cannot- play ascii. And online sounds fun, anyway.

You do realise online doesnt means multiplayer, it just means you connect to the server, without the local copy? Full tiles wouldnt really be easily implemented, as it is certainly not possible through telnet(Which is current online methode).

You can use a tile version there :
http://crawl.chaosforge.org/index.php?title=Nettiles

hopefully will be updated for the 0.7 release. As despite sadly it does not have the great interface of the full tile version though (i guess it will never be possible unless the devs change completely the way their "online" code work), but it does not need any additional program to connect as it is integrated, and it has graphic tiles.

Team 2 (Bay12 Miners)- Reached the Lair
Team 3 (Bay12 Blacksmiths) - Got a rune
Team 4 (Bay12 Champions) - Got multiple runes or won

Sounds good, let's see what the teams look like after I include the Blacksmiths. Dooone. Updated the OP too.
Code: [Select]
Bay12 Champions
C. LASD?
2. Drakale [Porter]
3. Dr. Feelgood [Demos]
4. Vactor
5.
6.

Bay12 Blacksmiths
C.
2. Robsoie
3. Leafsnail
4. Empty
5.
6.

Bay12 Miners
C. Soadreqm
2. baruk
3. Mr. Person [Person]
4. Soulwynd?
5.
6.

Bay12 Soapers
C. Quinnr [quinn]
2. PsyberianHusky
3. de5me7
4. Barbarossa the Seal God
5. Zironic [Fetish]
6.
Those who got "autobalanced", are you okay with the changes? If you want to move to another team, just say and it will happen. Also, those on Soapers, if you feel confident on your playing ability I can move you to Miners.

Also, who wants to Captain Blacksmiths?

EDIT: Final question, can anyone think of a good word for experience level between beginner and intermediate?

for the experience levels, it could be
beginner - intermediate - advanced - expert

I see myself more in "Miners" (intermediate) than "Blacksmith" (advanced)

I kind of suck with obscure classes, since my playstyle in early game is to storm through the first few levels, ignoring all danger. My average score on the servers in kind of abysmal. I suppose I could try to improve on that. :P

If I can ever figure out how to go online I'd like to join the Soapers
