Okay, I played a few games recently in ascii. I haven't memorized all the monster glyphs yet, but it seems that I can play reasonably well without tiles. Sign me up as fully committed.

Edit: It seems that I can't log in through PuTTY. Well, I guess I'm stuck with NetTiles.

Intermediate.  I've got the Swamp and Shoal runes several times (sometimes on the same game) and I once got the Abyss rune through sheer luck (although that was due to something banishing me rather than intentional looking for it),

Haven't got any of the better runes though.

I've never played, but I'm all for representing Bay12. Sign me up for the beginner's team. I can't seem to figure out what the DCSS website wants me to do though. Does it require some 3rd party program in order to play online?

I'm starting to consider adding a upper-intermediate or lower-expert team, as so far the players that would hit that are Soadreqm, Leafsnail and me most likely. (I've got the Swamp, Snake and Vault runes, even at the same time in my best rune-game which ended when I thought I could take on the Royal Jelly.)

It does, something that connects to Telnet, I've been using PuTTY and NuTTY. This guide was really helpful, I'll add it to the OP.

I don't understand this 3rd party program need, on my 1st attempt at playing online with the net tiles, i just had to click on "play online" in the main Crawl menu, select the server, make my account from inside Crawl, and finally once logged in (always from Crawl) play after selecting "1-go to Crawl Menu" then "P-Play Crawl Stone Soup 0.6.1", without needing an extra program ?

Is there something i missed ?

Wait, when is the tournament? I may be away from technology for a couple weeks in two weeks. If I can't play during this tournament, maybe I can get some practice in for next year.

The tournament seems to start on  August 1, but you can be included on a team up to August 15.

I usually play with tiles, so I have a feeling I'll mess up in the online version.  Ah well.

Also, I think there's a bonus for getting the best with a specific class/race combo... so we need to be playing a bunch of obscure classes .
