Oh I can move diagonally, I just have my hand on the arrow keys as opposed to the number pad.

@Net Tiles users

Once connected to online, is there a way to select the following species :
Kenku, Draconian , Demigod, Demonspawn, Mummy, Ghoul, Vampire
without having to use the random selection " * " and pressing space to do it again if the random selection does not select one of them.

Same question for the following jobs :
earth elementalist, Venom Mage, Stalker, Assassin, Hunter, Artificer, Arcane Marksman, Wanderer

As on my system none of those jobs and species are appearing on the selection screen when being online with Net Tile (like the right half of the dungeon floors when pressing SHIFT+X)

I'm not sure. You could try finding out the letter assigned to each one in ASCII mode and try and input it during tile mode.

Ah, if nothing else, the Bay 12 teams will be champions of dealing with interface oddities!  ;)

So it seems I accidentally put my canteen in my wheelbarrow and didn't notice... and then I got really thirsty... so right before going to sleep I go to take a swig from my canteen and... end up snorting a line of low-grade meth.

Robsoie, can you set up Putty separately and go through the character creation process with the ASCII interface, then save and log out and load your saved character with net tiles?  That's my best guess for you.  Putty is pretty easy to get going, I can post a walk-through if you need some help.

Good idea , didn't thought about that.
Thanks.

edit : I wondered if the saved game on CAO would be compatible (as i was not sure Net Tiles would output exactly the same version as the naked console version), but it works extremely well.

edit2 : Frumple, your human wizard seems to be amazing, level 19 !

It's going... well, I wouldn't say well, but I've got access to ++ in rCold, Fire, and N now... just not at the same time. I could have rCold++, rN+, and rF+ at the same time, but I'd lose either some mana or carrying limit, both which would be annoying. I have zero access to rPoision, though, which is cutting off my access from both non-slime lair branches... and I can't seem to find the bloody hive (though a gourmand amulet's helped tremendously with food.) There's probably three major spells missing (Fly, the *missile spells) and my current damage output is terribly limited; I'm basically stuck with mystic blast (which is short-ish ranged, and could stand do more damage) and fireball, which hungers me. Just got ahold of dispel undead, but the blast seems to be doing more damage anyway...

Basically, while this is the furthest I've ever gotten a crawl character, it's also the flimsiest mid-late game bugger I've played in a roguelike, which feels absolutely nerve-wracking, and I'm about 60-70% sure I've messed something up getting to this point that's going to pretty much bar the end-game to me. The loot gods pretty much hate the critter, too.

But... well. I've cleaned the lair and orc, emptied the elves down to 6, and've fumigated the dungeon down to ~D:17. Aizul's roaming around somewhere, but I haven't seen him in a while. I've got pretty good spell access, barring those utterly vital ones I can't find. Utility stuff is... alright, though I need to dump some of the lower-tier wands -- or use them up, I guess. It's not going horribly, just not as well as I'd like. At least I'm fairly sure the first major non-abjurable demon I run into's going to kill me, thus letting me free to play a decent hybrid instead. In the mean time, I'm just not really sure what to do now, besides keep pushing down into the dungeon. I just really feel like the poor bugger's pretty much hit his limit, or darn close to it.

Then again, I've felt that way since I hit the lair, I think. Heh.

EDIT: Oh, hey... artifact reaping bow. Look, look, it has rPois! Time to mess up the swamp's face with fire.

EDIT TH'TWO: Opinions people, 'cause I'm taking a break: Is this
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
enough to go for the decaying rune? If not, what more do I need to make the go for it?

Personnally i would feel a bit more comfortable if i had a way to summon something to serve either as meat shield or distraction before going to a rune.

Frumple, I think you can certainly delve down to swamp 5 and see what ending you have.  I have never gotten the fiery ending, but I think you can handle the cold one or the "evil" one.  There's also what I guess you could call the "dragon" ending which just has a crapload of hydras and swamp dragons, not sure on that one.

EDIT2: Anyone know if the stasis amulet blocks red wasp paralysis? Almost got murdered by one of those bloody things just now...
I'm 99% certain it should. So far for me it has blocked haste, blink/teleport, berserk, curare slow effect and eyeball gaze paralysis. It's an interesting item, not only does it stop some of the nastier enchantments, it also takes away a number of your escape options (when spending a turn to remove it may be fatal).
