Wow LASD, usually when i see a stone giant, running away is the only option.
Amazing to see how much of those pests you destroyed.

Here's a method for navigating labyrinths:
  • hug a wall, left or right doesn't matter but stick with it
  • switch left/right if necessary when stone/metal walls found
  • if you're being led away from the stone/metal walls, use dig/disintegration at a rock wall where it touches stone/metal
  • note labyrinth can have other vaults in addition to the minotaur, messing with the wall types a bit
  • also note the minotaur vault may have rock walls internally
It usually only takes me 2-3 minutes to find the minotaur.

Vault:8 had so much loot I couldn't carry it all. I need to go back to clear the last two vaults and find the stupid rune. I had some trouble with an ancient lich that kept summoning things so my own summons couldn't get close. I found a +9/+2 katana. I'm tempted to wield it, buckler or no, and hum the Kill Bill bike riding theme while I dice my enemies.

EDIT: And now I found a scroll of vorpalize weapon. Which brand should I add to this katana? ##crawl seemed to think that freezing is more damaging, but vorpal looks cooler.

Also, SILVER RUNE HELL YEAH! :D My best game before this one had one rune. Maybe I'll just get the stupid orb, too, while I'm at it. And then toss it to a pool of lava to get the Royal Jelly award. :P

Also also, A crusade card perma-converted a shadow dragon. I now have a pet dragon. I wish this game featured mounts. :P

Grh. I'm so stumped. I have no idea what I'll do. I went to Zot level 1. (first time, woo!) Then I met a electric golem and I don't want to go back. I don't think with my current abilities I can take one down without finding myself at 20 or so life even after some healing items used. Maybe a wand of disinteegration, but if that's so, how in the world can I clear the rest of the Zot levels and especially the last one? Orbs of fire are even harder to take down.

I also visited Slime. After the walls corroded my gloves twice, despite my resistances, I backed away. I guess I could return wearing only artifacts.

What did you use to kill the Zot monsters with your DDNe, Dr. Feelgood? (That sounded like a loveline question)

Death by hubris and bad luck combined, i hate when that happens.

In Orc Mines with my excellent Troll Berserker (found an awesome axe artefact and was doing a real carnage with it) thought he could take a surrounding party of an Orc Warrior, 2 Orc Priests and several lesser Orcs.
Quote
the +6,+5 war axe of Prudence (weapon) {chop, +Lev}
(You found it on level 9 of the Dungeon)
It inflicts extra damage upon your enemies.
   It lets you levitate.
At this point, i could have called a Brother in Arms, but because none of those Orc monsters were a threat on 1 on 1 to my Troll, i thought just using Trogg Hand and going Berserk would have made short work of them.

How wrong i was, it was exactly now that my Troll Berserker for some reason decided that despite his very good accuracy it was a good time to miss every of his hits, i don't think i saw a Troll Berserker not even being able to kill a simple Orc.
But the Orcs were not missing their chances, and i was noticing my high full health being dangerously reduced blow by blow.

And of course, being berserk i couldn't read any teleport/blink scrolls.
So i had no other choice: running away before the rage state would wear down (so i could maybe reach the stairs at a screen of distance using the increased berserk speed) as waiting until the rage disappeared to be able to read a blink scroll would have not guaranteed my Troll to not die considering how fast his health was going down.

Unfortunately while i was moving away it was a time that the 2 Orc Priests my Troll have been unable to hit and so kill decided to throw a lot of smitting at me.

Promising Troll dead.

At least i killed a few player ghosts, being now at 1 ghost of the Ghostbuster award, and i even managed to crush that horrible Gastronok in just a few hits (as it was time my Troll was deciding to not miss his hits ;) ) so it was not a complete disapointment ;)

I'm afraid I'm going to lose this character to overconfidence soon. :P

I was just pretty significantly hurt trying to melee two fire giants on D:24. Managed to retreat and regenerate the two mana points I needed to evoke a legendary deck of summoning from inventory. And why was I trying to take on two fire giants? Well, all the other giants are falling before my Hanzo blade, and my 46 EV ensures that I seldom get hit by anything. Apparently, dodging 3x3 fireballs is quite difficult. Well, I summoned a hovering katana of electrocution that proceeded to dice the giants to thin giant strips.

I could use spellbooks to teach me Flight and Reflect Missiles. Repel just doesn't cut it against all the yaktaurs, and having to wait for levitation to expire is annoying.

I haven't gone to the hall of blades yet, and Crypt is still guarded by that stupid dragon. The hovering weapons are immune to a lot of damage types, yes? I got Iskerendun's Mystic Blast. That can hurt most anything, right?

Also, I named my katana "Hanzo sword". Sure, technically it's not an artifact, just a regular +9/+5 vorpal katana, but I think that's a pretty arbitrary distinction. :P

I think the fireball spell is undodgable, pretty dangerous spell if you don't have resists.

My work comp won't allow me to upload a screenshot, but the Bay12Miners currently have a score of 1337.  You guys are leet!

@LASD:  You are a Mahkleb worshipper, correct?  Depending on your resists, I would probably rely fairly heavily on your "Aces" (<---Crawl pun for Greater Demons, hehe) to deal with many of the Zot threats, but you don't want to run low on piety before the orb chamber.  I'm not clear from your post whether you have rElec, if you don't, can you maybe find an artifact weapon or something to equip while storm dragons/black draconians/electric golems are around?  Greater demons should be a match for those threats I think as long as you're prepared in case of a hostile.  My first win ever was a DDNe of Mahkleb btw  :).

So, with my SETm from yesterday, made short work of the Lair using primarily Ice form. Am now in the orcish mines with Agnes staring at my face and I am kinda scared that I will lose this guy...she took down my Green Death summon in like 2 hits :( Can someone give me any suggestions?? I am online on akrasiac in case anyone wants to have a look at my game. Should I try another greater demon summon? !oMight? read tele scroll before engaging? there is also roxanne on the level and if I land anywhere near her at low health, i might get one shotted there as well. Also, Agnes seems to have bolt of fire, so going ice form for extra HP is also not a good option...

EDIT: Nevermind...she was a wimp.

I need advice, playing on develz.  Help?

A level 9 Deep Elf of Sif Muna, a Cloud Mage, and I can see a portal thingy.  I don't know if I want to take it, it is on Ork:4.  Is Ork:4 dangerous at all?
I also just received my first god gift ever.

Woo! I survived two god wraths at once! Killing all those zombies gave me enough XP to learn Necromutation. I picked Nemelex as my new god, since I'll be pissing off the rest of the gods to get the Heretic banner.  8) After sacrificing 3 piles of loot to Nemelex I already have his piety nearly maxed out.

Grh. I'm so stumped. I have no idea what I'll do. I went to Zot level 1. (first time, woo!) Then I met a electric golem and I don't want to go back. I don't like wasting my time killing things in Zot. I usually teleport randomly, until I can apportate the Orb. I know it sounds suicidal, but I've managed to beat the game several times by doing it.

You already have enough HP, EV and resistances to pull it off. You just need a few more things:

* Several healing items.
* The ability to teleport several times in a row (two teleport wands and a few scrolls of recharging will suffice).
* Teleport control for after you grab the Orb
* 1 magic mapping scroll for Zot:5
* Fog scrolls or Summon Butterflies (optional)

Dive down to Zot:5 while ignoring all the monsters there. Buff yourself and teleport repeatedly until you get close enough to use Apportation on the Orb. Now teleport out of there! While waiting for your teleports to kick in don't forget to heal yourself or summon some demons to distract the monsters.

My first win ever was a DDNe of Mahkleb btw  :).

Mines too.  :)

What is a Flagged Portal, Dr. Feelgood?

Quote
This portal leads to a forbidden dungeon of the mad chevalier. You know this
because of the black pennant bearing polearms in saltire. It seems as if you
had better enter the portal before the standard is lowered to the ground.

Apperently it is a bailey, and I don't know whether to go in or not.

Can I get back into a portal, if I leave?

A portal with a timer. It's a bailey. If you have Mephtic Cloud, then it should be easy.

Edit:

Can I get back into a portal, if I leave?

Nope.

That sounds like one of the ones with the weapon theme, I think it's a long hallway with legions of orcs who all have polearms of reaching.
