 [Progress report, Minotaur Warper]
Curare needles left: one
Blink scrolls left: one
Heal wounds potions left: two
Poison resistance: YES
Shield: YES, elven buckler
Best melee weapon: +3/+6 war axe of electrocution

Just cleared Orc Mines, killing about 6 uniques on the way (including the rather nasty Agnes). Lair next, which has an ice themed vault: polar bears, ice beasts and ice statue.
What I'm most recently happy about: I just bought some elven boots for 37gp, and wearing them takes me from unstealthy to fairly stealthy!

I cleared Snake:5 without much more issue. The greater nagas were still troublesome to deal with, but there weren't many of them left. I think my last assault with the decks of summoning went better than I thought at first. I now have the serpentine rune of Zot. This is the best I have ever done in this game.

Good job on the snake pit rune, the poison that reign there and those very strong greater nagas are not a joke at all.

So far my grey draconian wizard is always alive and kicking as Simple Minds would have sung back in my time, finally cleaned entirely Lair.
Finally i managed to find a good damaging spell with Ice Bolt in one of the Lair floors, my Magic Dart and Throw Frost were getting very old at my level 13, as monsters were not exactly weak in there (at least i have good confuration and ice power level now)

In Lair:8 i was expecting some wonders but i was in the same time lucky and unlucky.

Lucky because the strongest enemies encountered there were a pack of elephants and a pack of death yaks.

For the death yaks i built in a room with first a Rain power to grow plants a death trap with evolving the 3 plants spawned there into Oklobs, and helped with my squad of Wandering Mushroom the Death Yaks got a ride into bolt of acid and spore confusing that got fatal for them.

Later in Lair:8 i found a structure that looked like a Vault, there i was happy, though the double door at the entry made me very cautious, fortunately 2 plants were there with a line of sight to the doors so i evolved them in 2 Oklobs stationned my Wandering Murshroom squad nearby and bravely entered alone the building.
Exploring it i saw several elephant statues, i found few other rooms and in the last one 4 elephants.
I ran away followed by the elephants that one after another felt in front of my combined Oklob-Wandering Mushroom confusing spores and Ice Bolt spells.
Then i finished exploring the vault.

And there bad luck, all that was found in this vault was a normal scimitar without bonus, 1 healing potion and 1 slow potion.
Nothing more.
At least the experience from killing those elephants and death yak have helped on the way to level 14.

The most dangerous Lair location i had was running into a room full of killer bee.
Those thing are strong, very strong when in such very large pack.
Without Mephitic Cloud no way my wandering mushroom squad and myself would have survived.
But that was not all, in the room below the killer bee nest, in which we fought there was a Zot trap that someone triggered.

And that Zot trap spawned several demons, that immediately summoned more demons themselves.
The room was hell unleashed , demons and killer bees hammering my fungus troopers and myself.
End was very near, i launched a few mephitic clouds to get hopefully the monsters killing each other, i evolved 2 plants into Oklob and used teleportation scrolls 3 times (because 2 of those times that damned random numbers teleported me in the same exact room from which i was trying to run away).

Finally alone somewhere far, i had a lot of messages
"you feel more experienced"
"you feel guilty" (happens when a monster destroy a wandering mushroom ally).

A few lesser demons came near me (they must have walked a long way), nothing my Throw Frost couldn't take care of (i did not have Ice Bolt yet).

Then once there were no more messages, i went back to that now distant room , evolving a few mushroom to get some Wandering Mushroom to help in case, and once i got there, no trace of any of my allies, an Oklob plant was always alive and there were lots of killer bee corpses.

But in term of health that was a very close battle, as once the demons and bees began to attack my lines, i was under heavy assault.

Next, i'll try either Hive or Orc Mines, not yet decided on which one to go first.
Orcs should not be a problem, but killer bees proved to be very strong if i am unlucky enough to run into packs of them, so i'll probably go to Orc Mines next.
I am a bit concerned that i ran out of fruits with all those Oklob evolution i needed to use to survive, i hope to find more of them soon as if i survive enough to get to Swamp later to try to get the rune, i will need Oklob.

Oh god, too many close calls. I just nearly STARVED to death fueled by all the spell hunger of clearing vaults 8. I'll be damn sure to carry more food with me from now on. Clearing Vaults 8 also has brought me really close to death a number of times, forcing me to teleports, which I've luckily landed in safe places.

Another very near death was at Snake 5, where I was breezing through until two greater nagas blasted me with two high power poison spells and I found myself at 2 life.

In the good news side, I got the serpentine rune! Whee! And this guy is now the most experienced one I've ever had.

EDIT: This is so stressful, I have to take a break or I'll cause this guy to die with my erratic playing. I didn't even notice I had ran out of remove curse scrolls and equipped an artifact  ring. I think I'll go on a shopping trip next. Get some more food and a wand of teleport to replace my twindling supply of scrolls.

Wow, looking at 2 hp as a deep dwarf can NOT be fun!   :o  It's amazing how harrowing Crawl can be no matter how strong your character gets.

Cleaned Orc Mines without a problem, in fact it has been the most ridiculously easy Orc Mines i ever visited, only 1 unique, Grum, that stood no chance with Ice Bolt and not a single Orc Knight or Orc sorcerer to make thing difficult, and met "only" 3 Orc Warriors in the whole branch.

Happy to see that Ice Bolt can kill an Orc Warrior in one shot currently, and the throw frost have no more problems dealing with the Orc priest and wizard.

But while in some time i would say it to be good, in fact the lack of good enemies was a real problem as i entered at level 13 and after cleaning Orc Mine i am then always at level 13 with always lot of XP needed for level 14.
And worse : i found absolutely nothing of real value in there, not even a single meat, bread or fruit.
Food will then begin to be a problem soon as Ice Bolt is not free spell at all, so my next destination is Hive, but at my level i am not sure to survive much killer bees considering past encounters, i hope the Wandering Mushroom will be enough to get me to the bee food stockpiles.

Other than that, i was disapointed to see that reaching Fedhas highest rank does not award anything unlike several other deities, i was hoping for even a single piece of food, but nothing, wasted all those corpse turning into fungus for nothing.

Additionally, i have since nearly the very beginning an amulet of faith, and i did not noticed the faith ranks coming any quicker than my previous run with Fedhas in which i found no such device.
Is the amulet somehow buggy or is having a really small and barely noticable effect ?

I never really had problems with the orc mines because summoners can have a swarm of canines by that time and a war dog can take a regular orc any day of the week.

Quote from: amulet of faith
The amulet of faith has the following, god-related effects:

    * Piety gain is 33% faster.
    * Gods that may protect you from harm are more likely to do so (your Piety is 33% higher for such checks).
    * Xom piety walk is 33% faster.
    * Xom is more likely to act.
    * Removing the amulet leaches away some piety, but will never cause excommunication, or drop Piety too close to excommunication.

The amulet of faith should give you piety one third faster. It's not SUPPOSED to be bugged, that's for sure.

I just cleaned up the beehive myself. Found SO MUCH food. Are there monsters generated in the hive? It's a bit of a hassle carrying all this, I thought I'd establish a second stash.

Also, the bee goodie hoard had a spellbook that featured Sticky Flame. Fourth level spells are hungerless for me, and I've been thinking of learning a new damage dealing spell, since all I got now is Mystic Blast. I think I'll memorize this, especially since I already got Controlled Amnesia in case I don't find a use for it.

Yes i had read that already, that's why i kept that amulet i got from floor 2 or 3, but i sure have noticed no faith level going any quicker than when i had no such amulet in a previous run with Fedhas, despite all the corpses i transformed in fungus in this run.

A possibility i can think is that i was wearing the amulet before reaching the temple and getting Fedhas, i wonder if then it linked itself to my current faith, or if it was left in a non functionning state like for when i decided to wear it.

I just found a ring of sustain abilities, a ring of poison resistance, and an amulet of resist corrosion.  I am a lucky man.

No, it's functioning. The game checks for that when you join a religion, that's why it ID'd for you. What probably happened it just that Fedha's piety gain is already consistant. There's very few "could of gained piety but didn't" moments. I'm not sure, I remember some people complaining about amulet of faith interaction with certain gods.

I choose not to look at it as "33% faster with the amulet on", but rather as "25% slower when you don't have the amulet on" purely so I don't trick myself into putting the amulet on if I know about it.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.
