I don't understand this 3rd party program need, on my 1st attempt at playing online with the net tiles, i just had to click on "play online" in the main Crawl menu, select the server, make my account from inside Crawl, and finally once logged in (always from Crawl) play after selecting "1-go to Crawl Menu" then "P-Play Crawl Stone Soup 0.6.1", without needing an extra program ?

Is there something i missed ?

You need a terminal emulator to play online. Normally you'd download PuTTY, change several settings and use it to play online. NetTiles uses a modified PuTTY, so you all you need to do is create your account.

For the new guys, here are some tweaks to make ascii look better.  :)

Wait, I'm actually the most experienced of the newbie team? That's funny.

What do I need to put into the file? Errr, nevermind. I can look it up.

Also, PuTTY is the best. No install, is fast, and easy.
Do the team names need to be a single word, or can they have spaces?

Okay...if your listed on the Soapers, you should put this in the begin of your options file, with nothing above it:
# TEAMCAPTAIN quinn

The other teams should do the same, but with their captains username instead. (The one listed next to the 'c' on the team charts.)

Also, make sure your username is the same as on Bay12, or post it if it's different, since Captain's have to add the players too.

quinnr, cool that you're taking up the the role of the Captain so well, but there's no hurry for official signing up yet. Still a little under 2 weeks to go 'til the tournament. We might even change the name of the team by then.

I added a countdown to the OP to make it more clear when this tournament is happening.

And wow, I hadn't noticed how good Dr. Feelgood actually is. A 15-rune victory! Just wow. If I won't be the in the Champs team, the Captain's position is definitely yours.

Also, the soapers are totally gonna win. You all know it's true.

I usually play with tiles, so I have a feeling I'll mess up in the online version.  Ah well.

Also, I think there's a bonus for getting the best with a specific class/race combo... so we need to be playing a bunch of obscure classes :P.

Mummy Fighters! Ogre Archers! Mountain dwarf wizards!

I can't win with not obscure classes.  ???

You don't need to win!  You just need to be the best Deep Elf Berserker there is!

And while I haven't won, I can get runes... sometimes.  Runes are worth points... just not very many :P.

Also, Feelgood did most of a Ziggurat, too.

I don't have one yet. I'll be installing the game later today.

Put me in for the intermediate team. I was worried I might of gotten rusty since I've had a horrible streak of games, but considering I played a single game and just finished clearing out the Lair, I think I'm doing pretty well. We'll see how things go. Registered on CAO as just "Person". I'll also play the Sprint map a bit, but no way I'm winning it if the current Sprint maps are any indicator.

I promise to run some Ogre casters and weird berserkers, but I doubt I'll get them that far.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

I don't think I'll be able to get in the tournament since I'm going back to college around the same day it starts, but I'll most likely start playing crawl on the server now and run ogre stalkers and related shenaningas.

Actually... just switching melee classes could help.  I don't think a SpAs is that different from an SpBe or an SpFi.

Actually, SpBe is something you have to experience. You have to dive VERY fast to get food, while berserking you move like a fucking racecar and hit like a normal person, and you can outrun normal-speed opponents even during post-berserk slowdown.

Once you clear Hive, food isn't actually that much of a problem for a Spriggan.  As long as you hurry.
