My own SpEn met a bitter end (caused by overconfidence yielded from their extreme power and some plain old stupidity), but I'm happy you made it through! Also, starting in the university is making me have a lot less time to play, but there aren't many days left of the tournament either. Eli has been working hard on making sure no one knocks him down from the list, but we might have a chance to overtake his clan. I'll keep beating some low scores, not trying to knock his off. At least every score will be another 5 points.

Though I wish I had just ditched Nemelex for Jiyva in the SpEn game and just gotten the 50 points from the rune. But that's the spirit of the game, no second chances.

 Well done Frumple, that helps take the pressure off, now that the Miners have a win.
 Had another near death experience on D: 26 with a lich, which summoned an Executioner and a couple of Fiends just after I discovered that my wand of hasting was out of charges. Escaped with a teleport scroll (which dumped me near a yaktaur captain, brown ooze and frost giant, but could have been worse). D: 27 is now cleared, and I'm considering having a bash at Elf: 7 before going for Zot.

Well done for escaping this executioner, one of my tourney character that had the greater servant ability of Maklheb summed with bad luck an hostile executionner, i wasted a faith rank to summon 3 other greater servants to defend my character, fortunately one of them was another executionner, but it was close to death.

Those things really are dangerous.

So, uh... outside of the vault and lair branches, which is the easiest runes to nab? I just watched some random critter open a hidden door on V:2, from which promptly spilled numerous stone giants, tentacled monstrosities, shadow dragons, etc. Naturally, th'first teleport scroll I read put me in the room they were coming from, but I managed to survive to teleport again and get the bloody hell off the level.

So. Pan, hell, abyss, etc... which would be the safest to go for? Or should I just go back to the dungeon and see if I can't get strong enough to come back and clear th'place out? I guess haunt spam (which is seven kinds of awesome) could take individual critters easily enough, but... Anyway, this is th'character:

So I just followed the guide to connect to the server, and I can do it up to typing in the password. It literally doesn't let me type anything, nothing shows up. What am I doing wrong, exactly?

Nothing shows, but you're typing anyway. It's fairly common wit' telnet related stuff, iirc. Just make sure you don't misspell anything

In other news, it turns out that haunt spam is greater than shadow dragons, tentacled monstrosities, and stone giants. Especially when there's 20+ assorted Ws and ps on the same screen. I've easily spat out >100 haunt critters on clearing that mess out... and I'm not done yet. On the bright side, Sif just decided to give me a book with summon butterflies, abjuration, and summon horrible things in it. I'm pretty much set for summoning now, heh.

EDIT: Nevermind, I guess. V:3 was utterly ridiculous. Fire giant waiting on the down stairs, norris in one spot, and teleporting away from the bastard put me right beside Mara. I'm done, tourney wise, bleh.

Woo. I finally pinned down a first rune, then lost in shoals due to semi-controlled blink deciding that it would rather not move at all than jump long distances.
