Azrael can be killed easily with a wand of cold. But Mara is another matter entirely... I would avoid him altogether. You could get lucky but the risk is high.

I avoid Mara as long as I possibly can. I would consider skipping D:18 until much later in the game. I'd do the Vault now for sure. I usually do Vault before Elves, unless I have full ResNegative and high Magic Resistance - I hate it when the elves cast me into the Abyss.

Edit: Fortunately Mara seems easy to escape from, unlike Aizul and some others.

Mara is dangerous but not deadly. Mara is hard to kill and will kill you if given the chance, it just takes so long that escape is really easy.

Hmm...I've never been a big fan of CCGs - I mean, I did and still do collect Pokemon cards, but I never got heavily into the battling and trading thing.

By definition that makes you a fan since you still buy them.

Personnally, i would avoid Mara as much as possible, i killed her in one of my recent Spriggan Enchanter run, but i took that risk only because she was sleeping and my character "extraordinarly stealthy" with very high stabbing skill.

An awake Mara would be terrible depending on your character, if your good current character is cloned by Mara spells, the fight would become very difficult.

How strong is Azrael in regular fight (i mean if you have no cold damaging item/spell) ?
One of my character killed him without even knowing it (tons of my summons apparently killed him off-screen while i was running away.) as i prefered to not stay around.

Azrael isn't too dangerous as long as you get close. Bolt of Fire does way more damage than his melee attack.

Of course the real threat is his band of hell hounds and fire elementals and fire votices and what-not that follow him around.

Okay...  Apparently, Vampire transmuters are even more powerful than previously thought.

This page says that Sublimation of Blood will convert a wielded potion of blood into MP and a potion of decay...  For someone with evaporate, that's a double-plus-good situation.  If you can somehow manage to find a book with that, you've just made your blood bank even more formidable and versatile than before.

Hmm...  Y'know what'd be really cool/broken?  If Deep Dwarf damage shaving is applied to the max HP hit from Borgnjor's revivification.  Again, according to Develz, the cut is between 2-11 hitpoints depending on power, the low range of which is well within the shrug zone.

Hi. I see the Bay12 Haulers team has room in it, so I'd like to join if it's still possible. My akrasiac account name is the same as here. I've grabbed some runes and won the game once on 0.5.something, and coming back to play now it seems 0.7.0 is either a lot harder or I've just forgot everything. My best character so far almost cleared the Orcish Mines, but then I managed to die in some really stupid way. Haven't managed to get a single rune yet either.

Sorry, the signups closed a while ago. Can't join a team anymore. :(

Myself, I had a reasonably promising spriggan transmuter. Killed by Norbert with a bardiche of reaching. I confused him and hit him a couple of times, but he shrugged the confusion off, hurt me pretty badly, and when I tried to move away to confuse him again, he killed me from afar. Stupid reaching brand. >:(

Nabbed the high score, though.

I lost a promising DeFE because "I don't need to use heal right now, I can totally kill Norbert there next to me this turn! I should be able to survive getting hit by the slime creature as long as Norbert dies." That worked out well for me.

I hate when those stupid death happens.
Had randomly selected a demigod wizard, he went surprisingly to me as far as reaching level 9, but it was annoying to play with as i found no other summoning books so i was stuck with the summon mammal spam to survive, and i found no nice equipment out of a dagger of freezing.

So i'm not really mad to this character death, it was not really fun to play anyways as the mamal spam was way too repetitive to be any fun.

Anyways, when i tried my scrolls at D:3 or D:4 i identified, by trying it, a blink scroll, it was my only one, and while exploring the other floors with "O" i didn't noticed that i found another blink scroll, being more focused on the enemies everywhere around that i had to kill with summon mamals and the dozen of useless or bad scrolls i found during this run.

And so at some point in a big open room without any cover, a centaur appear in the other side of the screen and of course begin to fill my characters with arrows, i tried to run away to the nearby stairs, but they were sadly 1 turn too far, my character couldn't survive the rain of arrows coming to me and sadly avoiding the few animals i had around me.

If only i had noticed earlier that i had picked up another blink scroll...
Damn, i miss so much the real tile interface with the equipment displayed and easy to access, i would have immediatly noticed that i had this other blink scroll.

The scoreboard is at http://crawl.akrasiac.org/tourney10/teams.html. At the moment, Champions are number nine with 4711 points, Blacksmiths number 14 with 2713 points, Miners number 18 with 1589 points, Immigrants number 22 with 1428 points, and Soapers number 37 with 426 points.

I just died from an airstrike cast by a Titan polymorphed with an unidentified wand from an elephant slug. My summons would have killed it eventually, I bet, if it wasn't for that pesky smite targeting.

Well, the lowest rank that's actually done something is 58. Bay12 folks hold positions 9, 14, 18, 22, 37, and 41. All told, Bay12 has played 2,969 games, out of 45,973 total, winning nine out of the 251 games thus far won.

We're not the worst! Doing relatively decently, actually. I guess, anyway.

"Squolly the Necromancer (L12 VpNe), worshipper of Yredelemnul, succumbed to Soadreqm's ghost's sting on Lair:5, with 21293 points after 27902 turns and 2:22:33." This was the guy who got airstruck by the Titan. He apparently poisoned a vampire to death afterwards. I think this is my second ghost kill.

I just started a MDEn, the newest Nemelex Choice, as that seems actually winnable. After this game ends, one way or another, I'll concentrate on bringing Eli down, and/or Blacksmiths over LostArtBrewing in the high scores.

Wish me luck.

And oh yeah, we're doing good, many victories, dozens of runes and high scores, hundreds of uniques and ghosts, thousands of points and millions of turns. Also, the score of the Bay12 teams combined would make the second place in the clan list, that tells how insanely good and devoted the best players are.
