Hm, well this is annoying.  My USB ports have apparently up and died so now I can't use my headset nor my tablet which I never used anyway, nor my logitech dual stick controller...  I really have GOT to find out what the hell is wrong with my computer.

Also, a guy bent on making teams fail. "I'll be medic" and then getting killed at the first possible moment, shouting FAIL. Be warned.

That's why I always take the medic in random teams...

Also, the shortest campaign ever: on insane there's parasites just beyond the first door. The tech dies, we fail within 30 seconds of playing...

Nice story indeed. Those are the stories I play for, and occasionally you can actually get them.

I also noticed that praising your fellow players (if warranted, of course) really makes them feel good, especially if you're "higher ranked" than them. Don't skimp on the praise, people!

Nope, just a return to main menu, and a lingering feeling of loss and loneliness.

I think something went absolutely cockward when I got dropped, possibly related to that it was an involuntary disconnect. Maybe I tried to fire my medigun while it happened and something went nuts when a medigun was firing from nowhere, except for that bots take over, so I have no idea.

I'm not sure yet, how my evening will go today, but I have the bad feeling I'll end up playing alien swarm... so, in about 6 hours from now, 22 CET that is, I could probably use a team. I'm a bit rusty, but I still want to beat insane (maybe start on hard to warm up?) and I prefer any role but medic. (Strange, normally I love to be medic, but in alien swarm not so much)

I'll be in the DFC chatroom. (Hopefully not, because the other plans for the evening are so much more awesome...)

Ahhh I love insane. Once you get used to it, hard becomes a joke by comparison. Problem of course is when you go back to hard for your friends that don't play, and you're suddenly dealing with guys who don't keep in formation and waste too much ammo on the drones.

Is anyone else finding it borderline impossible to actually get into a game, or am I just cursed?

I spent 2+ hours trying to get into a game the other night...

More often than not it wouldn't even connect me to the game lobby.  A couple times I got into the lobby, only to have the host bail because we weren't filling up fast enough.  Then it failed to load the map a couple times.  I got kicked for absolutely no reason a couple times.

I managed to actually join just four games, over the course of over two hours.

Of those four games, two of them ended successfully.  One of them just ended abruptly - I suddenly found myself looking at the main menu again.  I'm not sure if I got kicked, or my connection dropped, or what.  One of them ended after the host got himself killed and he quit.

Over two hours of trying to connect...  Over and over again...  For about 20 minutes of actual gameplay.

Sometimes you get kicked because people were waiting for a friend to connect, and you were taking that space, it happens. Matchmaking has improved but is still nowhere near what it should be.
