What's up with that "limited steam access" thingy?

2 friends of mine got steam and alien swarm and they said they couldnt invite any friends. So I sent them invites, which works just fine. It's a minor hurdle, and you dont need to buy jack, if you dont want to, id say.

How do you get it to start you solo? It always tells me two people are required.

I wish I was there for that insane campaign, sounds awesome. I have a few friends I play with but there's only three of us and we keep trying the last mission on insane and keep failing every time on the second to last room with the shield bugs and spawners.

Also, I've managed to get "blast radius" achievement about 3 times but it's still not actually giving me the credit for it... ? Do I have to use a specific kind of grenade?

Played a few rounds, we all failed miserably due to "infestation". The level up system is a neat way to take care of unlocks. Providing guaranteed upgrades as opposed to TF2's random drops, it also fits the campaign-based gameplay better. Hoping to play with you guys this evening.

Not to derail, but TF2, aside from hats, has guaranteed unlocks. They've been there since long before the drop system.

The guaranteed unlocks are obtained through class achievements by getting enough achievements to activate each milestone (3 per class).
