I have to say... DANG those paracites...

Honestly out of every enemy in this game they are the ones that are the most dangerous. (though the ranged attackers are too because of their impressive damage)

Also fun, standing an the exit elevator, ammoless, Kicking and Punching heavy aliens and fliers because your good-for-nothing teammate can't find the way and is too lame to follow you.

Goodness... I am rather bad at these games but I seem to be better then most of the player base. I played with the Engineer who doesn't get the damage bonus and I got more kills then the dedicated attackers (and usually the least Team hits... Have you had half your HP taken down by a mining drill before? I have!)

I also found it funny when I had someone jump into a put of eggs. They are lucky the healer still had heal kits or else he would just flat out be dead.

A lot of this game seems to be based around remembering where things are. There is a part where you get ambushed but if one player hangs back they can get

Surprisingly good weapons are the flamethrower, it can conserve ammo EASILY! it does little-no damage to allies... Hits multiple enemies in a single hit. The downside is dying enemies can still attack which is a great concerned on anything with a ranged attack. It has surprisingly good range for what you would expect.

Tip: Your guns kill enemies WAAAAY before they stop hitting an enemy. On easy the double pistols kill the basic and basic armored enemy in two hits (assault Rifles do it in 3). It is a GREAT idea to learn when an enemy is dead because they can eat a lot of ammo.

Tip: FOR GODSAKE MELEE ATTACK! It doesn't interupt reloads to my knowledge... use it! plus it is very powerful. I've killed the armored units before by stunning them with my Teslagun then punching them out (Though I got a bonus to do so). I've RARELY seen people use it... and while indeed it isn't a good way to attempt to kill enemies, it is a great way to get out of one who is in your face.

I usually only melee when reloading, but I'm thinking of playing more melee based personalities, just for the fun of it.

Also, remember the grenadelaucher on the assault gun. It is awesome, if you're careful with it.

Flamethrower is a must.

A parasite on fire can't infect anybody, which is a plus.

I played as a tech for the first time... puzzles. Simple puzzles yes, but I am not so good with those things =p

Oh, and slow tech guys who can't do puzzles. Also annoying ;)

The most fun I had was with people who can either lead well, or follow well. There's lvl 18's about who rush through the level on their own, leaving the group behind, that is not leading.

I (personally) think this is worse then the UK04 mod it originally was... its dump'd down for the masses... the mod was extremly challanging and skill based, a Old-Veteran player could solo everything, but also die after one stupid mistake...

Back in uk04 it gave you FAR more choice in the start, in weapons and so on... stupid stuff, like a cigar for sarge or a revolver... but it was awesome. It was more complex and unforgiving (nade laucher, 3 firing options : explode, remote, proxmity. Set someone on fire that has a ammo bag = Party... and way more).

It also had all weapons pickable from the start (well two "unlocks" if you do certain missions in the campaigns, but thats server side setting) and you would get "points" to increase your 4 skills... one point for suriving, a extra for 100 kills, one extra for xxx health healed... if you did one mission only with a pistol, you get dual pistols. If you get 25 melee kills, you'll get a point...

Skills went from 1 to 5, with 5 being a special unlock on the class special skill... like explosive specialist 5 stars gets a fireproof suite... all the good stuff.

Miss that.

Protip: Adrenalin + hacking, run on and ignore mass spawn.

I never played the original, sadly, but from what I gathered the last few days, it soudns a lot better.

BUT!

A lot of the old creamy goodness seems to be restorable with just a few settings. The rest is surely moddable, and I bet it wont be long, til we see the original with nicer eyecandy. Can't wait.

Finally got this installed after a complicated process involving a file hosting site, another computer, a flash drive, techno-wizardry, and more than a few obscenities.

is worth it

About implementing the director AI:

so far I only get it to spawn one class of aliens. Can I get that to pick randomly somehow? Anybody knows where to get a list of spawnable alien classes?
