The SH3Commander Mod has allowed me to actually change my crew's name to your stylized German Forum names. Rejoice!

Spoiler: CREW LIST (click to show/hide)

Vagel7 is a bit hard to spot, but he is a sailor named Vagel Lang (I renamed a guy named Rolf Lang).

Seamas is not present at the moment, as he is ill.

We'll be leaving again on September 13 (which should be just two or three days after arriving back in Kiel, they're whipping us hard), this time headed for Sector AN56, which is around 350 kilometres East of Newcastle, Great Britain. Remember that loose lips sink U-boats, so keep this information to yourselves while you're on leave.

Haha, just kidding, you don't get leave, we need you to do maintenance on the vessel.

September 14, 15:14

We picked up a radio transmission from U-35. Since we haven't rounded Denmark yet, I imagine everybody else did, too. They've been destroyed. Completely annihalated by three destroyers.

September 15, 14:02

The Sonar Operation has picked up a Sound Contact: A warship! We're still just rounding Denmark, so it's probably nothing. We should check just in case, though, don't want Poles or Brits sneaking in.

14:48

No Contact. Sending a report and carrying on.

September 17, 9:34, somewhere in the middle of the North Sea

The watchman spotted a ship, heading north, just ahead. Moving to investigate.

10:27

Small freighter, not certain of its nationality. Going periscope depth.

10:56

The Freighter is moving at approximately 7.5 knots per second.

11:11

The ship is definitely British, but there is no guarantee that we can catch it, as it is very fast.[/i]

11:15

We're not going to let them lead us into a trap like U-35 and U-30 (though, U-30 reported WINNING their battle, despite heavy damage). We're going back on course, should arrive in our sector in 15 hours.

11:38

I think the man who received the War Badge on the last patrol might have something wrong with him.

12:00

Russia just joined us in the war! Excellent news!

15:05

Bootman Cornsch has been working in the Diesel Engines since we started this last month. Spartan claims that he does his work exceptionally well, on both the Electric and Diesel Engines. I'm not entirely certain. He seems to spend a lot of time talking to his bed-

15:08
Contact spotted, plotting an intercept.

15:42
If the Watchman is right, the ship is heading straight for us, and will arrive in about six hours at its speed of an estimated 5-7 knots. We will stay the course, but slow down a bit so that we get the first glimpse.

17:15
Aircraft spotted! Diving to periscope depth!

17:16
Nothing else in range. We're going to surface and send a man out on the flak gun for the next fifteen minutes or so.

17:17
The Watchman claims that there is an Anson Aircraft at bearing 300 (ahead and to the left of us) at 3 kilometres. He clearly has better eyes than I do. I sent Bootman Erwin Winterfield out onto the Flak Gun.

17:18
I see the enemy aircraft now. Ordering Winterfield to shoot it down.

17:19
It just failed a strafing run on us. Now I'm mad. Winterfield is apparently having trouble with the flak gun and has kindly requested we lift up a bit higher, if possible.

17:20
Erwin froze up at the flak gun controls and we were almost bombed into oblivion. Ordered Felix Reder to replace him.

17:22
Bootsman Reder is able to bring himself to fire upon the Anson, though his aim is a bit to be desired. Another bomb dropped, maybe a hundred metres off our 10 o'clock

[I took some screenshots of this, but none are particularly interesting to look at. Just a plane up in the sky, and a splash of water somewhere else.]

17:24
I take it back. Bootsman Reber is a god among men.

This was actually a lucky shot. While I was scrolling over there I noticed that the bullets were veering off course by several hundred metres.

Moving back onto our intercept course with what must be an aircraft carrier. Sinking it would be beneficial, but risky, so we will only be firing a single torpedo and then getting out of there before it even hits.

20:03

Passed through where the target ship was last seen. The Anson probably managed to radio a warning to them in the 8 minutes it took us to destroy it.

September 18, 16:30

Another aircraft was just spotted. Poor fools.

16:31

According to the weapons officer, the waters are too rough to man the Flak Gun. We're dropping to periscope depth.

18:07

We have resurfaced, and the enemy aircraft seems to have left the area.

September 19, 1939

Patrol finished, returning to base. We should arrive back home in 5 or 6 days.

Heh, I remember Janet's LP that somehow died off for no reason.
I wish to have a Radioman called Klauss Austerlitz please.

Also: Finally this seems to be on par with her LP somehow, despite what I expected.

I think it was due to real-life issues.

Also, watching.

The 4th Patrol (including training) will commence shortly.

Get ready!

We'll be leaving on September 26, so you get 2 days of shore leave.

September 28, 7:02

We spotted what is either a Croatian or French ship off our starboard. Moving in closer to investigate.

7:35

It's a neutral ship, we're moving on.

October 2, 15:58

We made it to our patrol location (same place as last time). Only been half an hour, and already we've spotted a ship about forty five kilometres Northwest of us. Plotting an intercept.

18:55

They got away. Oh well, we have lots of time.

October 3, 19:36

Spotted another ship. This time, it's ours.

22:00

It's gone. Merchant shipping is getting crafty, or my men are not so useful at watch.

October 7, 10:03

We finally spotted something else, though it will probably also evade us. We might have to head back if we don't find something soon: This sector is completely bare.

October 8, 0:55

I could kill the Watchman at this point. He told me this ship was heading due north and moving slowly. Cutting into its path at 15 knots revealed nothing. We'll give it one more day, and then we're heading home.

October 9, 0:32

Well, at least we completed our objective of conducting a patrol. Heading back to base.

November 7, 1939

We have been given command of a new submarine, the Type IID. It's not much of a difference, though it is a bit faster when submerged, and I imagine it is also harder to kill. They're sending us out with it directly into AN59, just south of our previous patrol position.

November 10, 1:55

Spotted an ore carrier, uncertain of its identity. Moving to intercept. This could be iffy, there has been a lightning storm since last night.

Journal of Radioman Klauss Austerlitz
November 7, 1939
Oh great, we're off to patrol some useless area of water again. I didn't even want to be in the Kriegsmarine, I wanted to in Amerika, but for now I'm here listening to radio calls that I would pay that retard Creme Cornsch to listen too while I'm off sleeping in the corner.
Although the new U-Boat is nice.

Medical Officer? Ha, yeah right. Real men take the chunks of submarine shrapnel and stay standing!

We don't have one. :(

1:59

The ship is dark. We're not sure if it's a German or British flag. Why did they choose to be the same colour?

2:01

Ship is German, we're moving on.

November 13, 18:11

We've completed our patrol, but the men are tired of never seeing the enemy. We're going to head down to North France, just off the channel, and see who we can claim. Austerlitz received a report of a warship a ways north of us, but it is going much too quickly.

November 14, 08:45

We're here, spotted a ship about 40 kms off, heading straight for us. All stop.

10:49

Ship Spotted, bearing 313, Long Range. We only barely noticed it. Let's close in for the kill.

10:57

It's British, as expected. Marking its speed now, then we will be dropping to periscope depth.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

10:58

Enemy ship moving at six knots. Dropping to periscope depth.

17:29

We weren't able to spin around in time to line up the torpedoes. We have been chasing it up to this point, and we have just spotted another ship.

November 15, 00:41

We won't go home without a prize. Sneaking our way towards the Strait of Dover.

November 16, 01:08

We're lying in wait in the gulf containing Harwich and Southend. A ship is en route. We will strike.

10:30

Here she comes. No doubt she's spotted us. Doesn't matter, we're giving her everything we've got.

Fire one. It's a clear miss, we are too far away for this. Closing.

10:33

Fire two.

10:34

DIRECT HIT! That son of a bitch isn't going to walk away from that one!

Granted, I'm not sure if it was worth two torpedoes.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

10:37

It did not take long for that boat to sink. The fishermen certainly seemed brave up until the very end. In retrospect, this action seems morally questionable.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Returning to base.

Upon returning home...

I was awarded the Iron Cross, Second Class, for my valour in cutting the Brits off from their valuable fish supply.
