Godhood Adventures (AXD20) - Ep1: Manna From Heaven
« on: July 15, 2010, 04:41:46 pm »

This (hopefully) set of adventures is set within the persistent Godhood setting established in the Godhood thread.  Players are invited to take on the roles of mortals within that Universe.

The first setting will take place on the Plateworld, currently in orbit around Incendium.  A Worldsgate is present on the Plateworld, facilitating the appearance of non-native creatures.  (Especially since the only natives remaining are dwarves.)

Notes:

There will be five slots available for players.  These will be distributed based on a first-filling-out-the-character-sheet, first-served basis.  Gods in the Godhood thread may intervene as per the rules below.  Players who are not part of the Godhood game are perfectly welcome to join.  Once five slots are taken, we will begin.

Divine Intervention

If you are playing a God in the Godhood thread (regardless of whether you are playing a character in this thread or not), you are permitted to intervene directly once during a single adventure.  You may save a character from death, instruct your followers to aid/hinder the party or even just conveniently have them 'notice' a path to safety or the prize.  Whatever seems appropriate, really.  You can make a personal appearance, but things may not turn out the way you expect.

Otherwise, you may elect to play an NPC during the adventure and help the DM out.  I will expect you to play the NPC strictly to its character and limitations, or that privilege will be revoked.

At the end of the adventure, all Gods get one Act, which will affect happenings in the Universe at large.  Gods whose interests were advanced in the course of the adventure may get bonus acts, at the discretion of the DM.

Adventure Background

You and your companions have been called to a dwarven village on Aether, where an influential dwarf of the village has a task for you.  It is immediately obvious upon arriving at the village that they are hanging on to the location by a thread - the forest nearby has been burnt down, possibly as a result of a recent storm, and the slopes of the mountainside are barren, already harvested of all edible vegetation.  Your employer Urist Cleavewoods is rumoured to be a skilled metalworker, and it is likely he will pay you in weapons, armour or valuable copper and gemstone items for helping him.

If you are a member of the village, or come from nearby, you know that the task is of utmost importance to the village's survival.

The only race currently available on the Plateworld are Dwarves.  Races available on Aether are Humans, Fores t Elves or Aether Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Orcs/Goblins and Nightgaunts (though I recommend against those since they can't interact with the physical realm).  Other races that might be worth playing are Morai (the starship scavengers), Ferals (the humans of Incendium) or Jesters (evil psychotic halflings with a banjo fetish).

Largely name, but they live on a world that is covered with seas of magma and a flaming upper atmosphere that only had scant patches of greenery upon which to sustain life.  They exist in tribes, forced into constant battle for survival.  Incendium is the world of Gheronaton, God of War.

Ferals don't really have much more than a basic hunter tribal society.  They're of human shape, but they have a very predatory attitude and behaviour.

At the moment only a handful of races have magic.  The Aether Elves have Essence-based magic (not clearly defined - presumably basic force effects) and basic healing magic.  The insect race (Na'Ree?) on Natus performs a shamanistic nature magic, but they are unlikely to be willing to teach others.  There are currently six sorcerers on Aether who can perform Fire, Earth, Air, Water and Black magic.  The inhabitants of the Eye of Terror have access to Elemental magic, but there are currently no portals to and from that world.

Priests of Mania and Astra'ath also have access to divine magic.  At present no other gods empower their priests in this way.

It is possible that your character may have learned magic from one of these races without being a member of that race himself.
