Boulders=Stone?
« on: July 14, 2010, 09:56:06 pm »

I've found a truly lovely spot, however, there isn't any stone -- that I have discovered yet. There are, though, tons of boulders with various compositions. Is it possible to like. . . err extract said stone from the aforementioned boulders?

As of now, by the way, my miners are chipping away. The floor is black sand if that is useful in anyway.

Black sand is good. Sand can be used to make green glass.  There must be stone eventually. Keep digging down until you find it or get eaten.

He actually was being serious. Not having stone is almost as bad as not having booze. You can't build anything except out of wood, and if you clear cut, then the hippies will try to eat you.

I'm pretty sure a dwarven fort with palisade walls topped with the carved skulls of your foes is dwarfy.

To actually answer the OPs question, no. You cannot harvest boulders.

I once built a cluster of wooden towers with interconnected walkways, but I've got to say, I felt decidedly elf-ish.  Maybe the skulls of elves on the walls would have improved the feel.

Re the boulders if it helps you can smooth them to get them out of the way.

How about a giant tower, shaped like a tree, made entirely of wood, with green glass rooms on the ends of the branches?

Hehe, chop down as many trees as possible to build your own? And no using underground wood! Fungus not allowed.
