Wolfchild:

Roll: 5
Suddenly, the face is replaced by grey fur, which you realize is your wolf pouncing upon the thing. As you bring your bolter and axe to bear, you have a chance to get a good look at it. It is humanoid, hunched and skeletal with two large, powerful, mantis-like arms jutting up from its shoulders (At the risk of revealing who you're dealing with...). The two grapple for a time, your wolf tearing into its face and neck as it struggles against the massive beast. You quickly aim your bolter and fire several rounds, being careful not to hit your wolf, and the thing soon ceases its struggling.

When you finally manage to pry your wolf off the corpse, you examine the creature. It is unlike anything you have seen before... too perfect in form to be a Chaos daemon, obviously not human... Some kind of dangerous local wildlife? You decide to continue onward, it is dead now, so it won't bother you any longer.

As the red sun begins to fade into the west, you catch sight of the resort, though even upon a crag several hundred feet away it looks like it's been abandoned for ages. The entire structure is overgrown with peculiar vines and it seems to be crumbling away in several places. There are several lights still on throughout the structure, which causes you to continue onward.

Yup, oh well just shoot then charge, rather than skipping straigt to the charge

I like the counterattack rule that all spacewolves have, but that seems pointless in an rtd

Ummm, do we actually know what power armour does? I mean, sure, armour, strength, typically breathing apparatus, the basic killing machine package, but does anyone have a clue what the comparison would be to a Space Marine without power armour? Do you get Space Marines without power armour? Or are they born grown with it... Do plague marines get to keep their armour? or do they start to ooze out of it after a while? And has anyone ever tried to salvage the armour from an obliterator?

well, scouts have carapace armour instead of power armour, and the only thing that suffers is their armour save (in-game) same goes for black templar initiates

Well, even without their armor Space marines are pretty tough. Their ribcage is a solid fused plate of bone, they have redundant organs, they can survive vacuum for some time, and they are several times stronger than a normal person.

in game terms all it provides is a 3+ armour save, it does provide more than that though in the fluff

Sorry about the lack of updates today, a bit of curiosity about the Tyranid fleet inevitably led to hours of fascinated clicking through the Lexicanum, and I might have to leave soon. I'll try to get a few more actions done... have to leave now. Hopefully I'll be able to get back on later...

Also, I knew posting that picture would be a bad idea, now the big surprise is ruined!

Osric starts to look at his former hands and grimaced.
Seriously guys, couldn't the Great Grandfather gave me some more practical appendages? How am i supposed to grab something with those? And if im allowed to ask questions: first where am i? And secondly who are you?

determine who that guy is that speaks to me and follow him to where ever he might lead me...

There were enough clues, I think those of us familiar with tyranids figured it out (:
I hear you about the Lexicanum.  I've spent many an hour on it in the past, and I still don't know whether my character would even know about tyranids.  I doubt it.  I figure he's fought cultists most of his career, maybe a brief clash with some tau.

Yeah, I didn't even look at the picture before I posted that. There aren't many things in 40k that fit that description, and they are all different kinds of tyranid.

Well Space Marines aren't grown with Power Armor. Actually at some point in your life if you are (un-)lucky a Space Marine Chapter decides that you are to be chosen as an Aspirant. How you are chosen is completely different from Chapter to Chapter. Space Wolves recruit their Aspirants from their homeworld. Basically they choose the most able ones and then put them through further training again completely different in each chapter. If they have proven worthy they get promoted to scouts. If not they are either dead or become servitors(human cyborgs with no free will) or servants. Those Scouts get an complete Space Marine training and after some time the complete gene manipulation of an Space Marine(Organs and Stuff)

Actually all Chaos Space Marines keep their original armour, as the secret of manufacturing is long lost and new armors can't be made out of thin air. In the eternity thy stay in the Warp most of the Chaos Space Marines and all Plague Marines more or less grow together with their armor making it basically impossible to take off the armor without inflicting pain and doing damage to the body. The Obliterators however are a special case they were infected by a special disease( i think its also called the Obliterator virus) which turns the infected into a living weapon and let him grow the weapons(Obliterator Virus)

So you cant just salvage pieces from dead Obliterators, except you want to get quite messy....

EDIT:
@ Lordinquisitor
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Terra

you are right that billions of people live on Terra but they are only workers of the Administratum at most. Terra itself has NO imperial regiments to speak of. As you can see every planet in the imperial space must pay tribute and are therefore put into different classes to fit their possibilities (much like the tax system in many modern countries: the richer the more you pay...). These tributes include paying of money, people, food and so on. Basically every Planet has to pay wit a certain amount of people who are put into the Imperial Guard. Planets however designated Aptus non(like Terra) don't pay any tribute and must not provide regiments for the Imperial Guard. It is however possible that Dragnar may have originally hailed from Terra, being the second or thrid son of a minor clerk he wouldn't have inherited the position of his father and been sent from Terra either to the next Schola Progenium or to the next habitable planet(and may have been recruited to that local regiment...)
