Musicians of Bay12
« on: July 13, 2010, 08:37:08 pm »

Hey guys, I was just wondering who here plays musical instruments and what you can/want to play.

I play guitar, bass, mandolin, and have the ability to pick up and play most instruments in the lute family.
I want to learn some piano, drums, and violin family stuff.

I pretend that I can make music sometimes.

WHY DID YOU HAVE ME KICK THEM WTF I DID NOT WANT TO BE SHOT AT.
I dunno, you guys have survived Thomas the tank engine, golems, zombies, nuclear explosions, laser whales, and being on the same team as ragnarock.  I don't think something as tame as a world ending rain of lava will even slow you guys down.

I make music with my wife.

She plays the flute.

I play the bongos.

We do jazz improv acts at a club in Amsterdamm.

We get standing ovations.

I can play the harmonica, (by ear, that is.)

I can play the flute, and whistle pretty well, along with drumming on my desk.

What?

I'll stop trying to be punny and admit I used to fiddle with the violin.

Guitar (predominantly acoustic), some bass, basic piano (poor with chords, good with melody/solo lines), used to know some drums. Hoping to learn violin or ukulele over the summer too, just gotta find a cheap used one I can pick up. Mostly I do digital composing these days, and hey what a perfect place to shamelessly plug my thread.

Oh you people with your string instruments.

Lets see...
I play the oboe, although I'm currently playing the Sousaphone. (Marching tuba, in case you were wondering.
I can play the melophone/french horn and trumpet, but not very well at all.
I can also sort of pick things out on a piano...
I plan on learning the accordion, too, as I got one really cheap at a thrift store (The people working there thought it was a suitcase =P)

I play the Baritone Horn (T.C.), and by extension know how to play a valve trombone and trumpet.

I know how to play a Saxophone, but I haven't played in a couple of years. I used to play the piano when I was young, but nowadays all I retain is knowing the positions of keys and being able to do some basic scales.

I play the tuba. It's pretty sweet, I've been doing it for a few years now.

The worst thing about playing the tuba is the fact that the band I'm in does marching but we don't have a Sousaphone. That totally sucks.

I feel sorry for bands that don't have sousas.
I imagine the shoulder hurts equally as bad, though.

Also, if my band did nothing but marching, I wouldn't be in it. Uhg.
