i thought you could only use those on territories you own. Id like to colonise part of africa, but for some reason i cant launch a sea borne invasion. I can get troups off the coast but it wont let me land. Ive looked at the national focus icon and its greyed out. I have justed ended a national focus somewhere else, is there a recharge time/condition?

You need to click on the actual troops that are on the ships.

is there an online manual or anything for this game?

I lost 80 prestige quite suddenly and id like to check what the games rules are.

also how do you get to build factories and encourage people to actually work in them?

There's a strategy guide, but you need to register the game on the Paradox Forums to see it.

a) There's no cause to lose 80 prestige, not war, not even any event I've ever heard of. it's a bug.
a.1) There's a set of in-game tutorials for all of this.
b) You need certain techs to enable factories. And you need to be westernized (you didn't try to play an uncivilized nation on your first try, did you? ;D)
c)to build factories you need to press the build icon on the top left. It's possible you can't build factories if your government doesn't believe in intervening in economics (the bourgeoisie will build your factories then (at no cost to you!) it's in the "projects" tab) .
d)the best way to make people factory workers is, paradoxically, to build a factory (quite a catch-22, wouldn't you say?). But you can set a national focus, if you really want to... (factory workers, like focuses, are gathered from the whole state) Note that craftsmen (factory workers) will do buck all if there's no factory, so you really shouldn't make them appear a year ahead of your factory.

i lost 80 prestige when a revolt started. everytime theres a rebellion my prestige gets taken down to zero.

Im playing as the Dutch. When i started the game capitalists built three factories.

Since then they havent built anymore.

i have an interventionist economic policy so i figure i should be able to build them but i cant. I know your limited to 8 per region and that u cant build them in colonies (the british can apparently they building them in singapore)

tech might be an issue but ive got quite alot of tech, im not 100% sure what the tech requirements for factories are, presumably since i have 3 i have the correct tech.

as for work force, my current 3 factories in a decade of operation have never got about half full, and often drop to 0 craftsmen despite being both subsidised and mostly profitable. Ive set a national focus in one region with a factory but it hasnt solved the problem.

Il replay the tutorial but i didnt get much out of it the first time round, possibly because i went through all of them and went brain dead.

You can only directly build factories under State Capitalism or Planned Economy economic policies. Interventionalism only permits you to subsidize failing factories.

If you get an event offering you to give minimum wages around 60%... yeah don't take it, completely destroyed my industry. >.>

I'd say that the 1.2 patch makes the game playable on vanilla, which is an improvement from the game crushing flaws of 1.1.  Hopefully when the modders update their 1.1 mods to 1.2, it should actually be a decent game with mods.
