Weird Stuff Dwarves Do
« on: July 13, 2010, 12:28:52 pm »

I'm trying to compile a full list of the strange inconsistencies in dwarvish pyschology for a wiki article. Want to help? Just list stuff you've noticed.

-Ignore fire
-Mothers use babies as shields
-Soldiers seem to train better when all labors turned off and then turned inactive.

-Parents are too happy that they just became parents to care that their baby drowned in the well.

When ever they're on fire, they never try to put themselves out.

Sometimes they'd rather take a break than dig for their lives when a magma flow comes around.

Dwarves will run away from marmots in panic when you really want them to go pick up those logs, but will ignore goblin swordmasters as they really have to go get those logs.

When they build walls they never EVER understand which side they're supposed to stand on.

They happily butcher fire imps and put the fiery meat and fat in the same stockpile where the booze is. I lost a fortress this way.

Dwarves will run away from marmots in panic when you really want them to go pick up those logs, but will ignore goblin swordmasters as they really have to go get those logs.

Maybe this can be fixed by altering the raws so tiny marmots and rabbits don't have an attack (but they might still "push" you to attack like blobs?)
Or perhaps by setting marmots' viewrange to 2 squares, or adding [BENIGN] to them, I dunno.

Or making them horrifically dangerous, so that the behaviour is justified?
