Yeah, evil mountainrange with a small river/brook perhaps?

In order to improve the universe's frame rate, we must all throw rocks into volcanoes and then do absolutely nothing, worldwide, for a week, to take pressure off pathfinding.

I'm third. Also, we should let the (good?) prisoners churn out the trade goods, give them something to do. It's similar to what they do in real life.

But they can use the picks as weapons. Think about it.

If you give all the guards  some hunter skill, and the rest military skill, they come with leather armor and crossbows.

I had a fun little idea. To ensure water access for every prisoner, dig a huge reservoir under the level with the cells, making it run underneath every single cell. Then open up a single hole in the floor so they have access to the water. This will serve as both drinking water, and toilet. :D

And on that note, a shower room. Narrow meeting area with a soap stockpile and several places where water can come from. With the flip of a lever or two, the room locks down and water pours in. Once the prisoners are clean, you pull another lever and the water drains out. An effective and fun way to wash several prisoners at once.

As for food, build something like this (side view) above each cell:

Code: [Select]
#H#s
##I_

# - floor
H - hatch cover
s - food stockpile
I - Support
_ - channel

You quite literally drop their food on them. Perhaps squishing them in the process. :D

By the way, count me in. It'll be a nice source of ideas for my experimental fort.

You dont need the support there. You could just make the hole a garbage dump. Then designate the food for dumping and it gets tossed down the hole. You just have to make sure you reclaim it afterwards.

I have some suggestions

For extra Fun, give the guards wooden weapons only, for subduing the prisoners
building above ground would let you have a perimeter fence and watch towers
give one prisoner an office and make him do the wardens taxes(read:bookkeeping) (nickname him dufrain)
make another prisoner the broker, in charge of acquiring things (read:geology hammers) (nickname him red)

makes me want to start my own shawshank prison

Shawshank Redemption ROCKED!!!! Tho I think we should play with humans if we wanted to name them Red and Dufrain. Also we should have that Norman or whats is name.
