So I take it we are the "imps" the character bound to himself?
I don't fully understand the question. "Himself?" But yes, after the character is finished, they'll be well aware of the discussion, and know what it is.
Hey, masculine pronouns are the default in time of uncertainly. Not idiotic combinations like s/he or hir. How do you each pronounce those?!

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

Winners:
C - Unknown
Primary school:
E - Enchantment
Secondary schools:
J - Sorcery
I - Elementalism
Parentage:
M - Parents were serfs.

K and L would have had a few more choices here, but the serf is more limited in terms of starting options.

The character now needs a name. It need not be the birthname, as the character may have decided to change names at the university.
What is the character's most defining personality trait?
What motivates the character's actions? Is it wealth, power, glory, or something else?

My name, imps, though you need not know it, is Vaarsuvius. I have bound you, and now you will guide me to power. The gods laugh at me, by birthing me to such humble parents and having my talents "discovered" by those imbeciles at Klepton. They were afraid of my power, and tried to train me out of my potential. My birthright.

I escaped, and find myself at the gates of a small town. The name matters not. I have very little in the way of worldly goods, only a sturdy branch, the shabby apprentice robe I wear, and a small handful of coins. A humble start, but I'll make do.

Now then, what shall I buy before I set off? I have enough money for two items of minor significance. Perhaps a dagger, some clothing that doesn't incorrectly label me as a mere apprentice, or a backpack. Identifying food from the wilderness is a trivial task. Such paltry meals are unworthy of me, but I only have limited funds. I could instead try to hire some thug to distract any hostile fauna I come across, or keep my coins and use them to empower spells.

Is there anything else I should do here? I'll not stay longer then needed, as the stench of unwashed townsmen is already getting to me.

This. Some tricks of elementalism should be suitably impressive.

Also buy a backpack.

assuming Enchantment is one of our schools, imbue some more coins or something and use the new ones to buy a proper meal
