The chronicles of Flagpast, written by KipiThe graveyard is ready. Lots of limonite was mined out, and the vein still continues through the walls. For now, we will leave the room as it is.
The month of Slate begun, and with it came the news of immigrants arraiving our fortress. Twenty one dwarves decided to travel our fortress and join our community, over doubling the number of people living here. That means a lot of more bedrooms must be mined.
Due the number of arriving migrants, I decided to expand the bedroom section with new block. Should be enough rooms to house all the arrivals. Also, more beds are queued to be produced.
All the migrants arrived our fortress safely. Among them was this lad Ragnarok, wo immediately came to see me. She said that she possess knowledge of blacksmithing, and was requesting work. I like this attitude, though we don't have any blacksmithing work to do right now. But I ordered her to help smelting things, so that she could get blacksmithing related jobs sooner.
With the help of the miner who came with the migrants, we were finally able to complete the mining of bedrooms. Now, we need to construct all the furniture there, and we are ready. One room came a bit misshapen, hopefully the person who gets assigned there doesn't mind.
As the bedrooms are ready for furniture, I have begun the project of relocating some of the workshops. Current location doesn't offer much expansion, so we have two floors dedicated for them, with related stockpiles near the workshops. For now I'm thinking of relocatin carpenters, masons, mechanics, furnaces and smithies.
Ordered the only furnace to smelt all the ores we have so far. That means smelting tetrahedrite ores, limonite ores, gold ores and making coal from both lignite and bituminous coal.
Ragnarok came to report that they must stop the smelting project because there is no coal left. Damn! Why didn't they make sure there is plenty of coal before smelting the ores, if not the make some coal first then smelt ores? Never mind that, the mistake has already been made. so, I'm forced to make some coal from wood so that coal can be made from forge.
So far the mining of workshop area has revealed a lot gold, some garnierite and some tetrahedrite. The ammount of gold especially surprises me.
We have some coal from wood, so smelting project can begin again. This time I made sure the coal from lignite and bituminous coal is in top priority, so that we won't run out of it again.
Enough bedrooms are ready, so I was assigned everyone personal bedroom. All the nobles and admins got bigger room. There is still few rooms left unoccupied, but that's okay. We may need them soon.
Our carpenters are overworked by the stuff they must make and cutting down trees. So, I decided to remove the task of cutting trees from them, and give it to two idle dwarves who came with the last migrant wave. At least they got useful
