I didnt have time to read all the fine print in the back, are you saying that you do that? You read all the fine print on the back of game covers? Well I dont, I'll do it next time.

Everything but the copyright notice. I like having some idea whether the game will work on my system and whether it requires an internet connection or not before I buy it.  And if something is bold, that means that whoever made the box wants you to see and read it immediately, because it will be important.

I was in a hurry, they close GAME at 6:00 on Saturdays and I wanted to buy a game, found this one and bought it. I didnt have time to read all the fine print in the back, are you saying that you do that? You read all the fine print on the back of game covers?

Yes, I do.

And by admitting you didn't you've just admitted its your fault as your main complaint is that you had to install steam and you didn't know.

So basically you didn't read the requirements on the back of the box, which are clearly displayed despite you saying there's no mention of Steam requirements, and then tore open the box voiding your return [against the offer on the back of a return] and tried patching 2gigs or so on a 2kb/s connection.  And STEAM is the problem?

Just close the thread.

I wish I had so much money that I could rush into a store the minute before they close and purchase a video game at random because it is absolutely necessary that I have one.

I'm not trolling though.
Dude, your thread is named "Steam is a load of shit". I'm not familiar with the differences of flaming and trolling but that definitely counts for at least one.

How about: "Requiring broadband/online verification for offline games sucks" or something. You'd still sound like you're raging, but you won't piss off anyone before they even read the OP and there's a possibility for meaningful discussion.

The issue is that Dawn of War isn't even an 'offline' series.   It has a vestigial singleplayer campaign but to my knowledge you only play one of the races in it.  It's like saying Starcraft is a singleplayer game.   Sure you can play offline but it's not really the main attraction.

The original DoW's campaign was pretty decent.

DoW II is just crap in general, from what I've heard.

I will agree that the series has taken a turn for the worst.

I know it's unrealistic, but I can't help but imagine little bearded babies for dwarves. In my mind, they come out of the womb fully bearded. That's how the mother carries them around, too, she just drags them around by the beard or ties it to her belt. When the father's on duty, he just ties their beards together and the baby just kind of hangs there, swinging to and fro with Urist McDaddy's movements.

Was it any good?

I had a lot more fun with DoW2 since it relies more on frontline action with a squad than pumping out units and basebuilding.  Which is fine, but the action RPG elements in DoW2 are more gripping than the kinda disconnected RTS vibe DoW had.

Shame you can't play the IG though.

I can see why some people might enjoy it. Personally I am a fan of basebuilding and all that stuff.
