Some regular-seeming guys showed up this week. They had a bunch of stuff for sale, but when I asked them if they had an iPod or something, they just gave me a weird plant thing. I'm starting to think that I'm not in America anymore.

As a Canadian I have several things to say.

1. I can  wrestle a polar bear with my bear hands.
2. Our bacon is far superior to that gristly you Americans call bacon.

Oh, and someone claiming to be a mason- though he didn't have the robes or anything... I'll bet he's a Shriner at best... anyway, he started shouting about his great new idea for a new work of his. He took over a workshop and started collecting rocks. Reminds me of my uncle Wallace. He eventually stopped collecting when the floor caved in, though...

I was shocked- SHOCKED- to discover that dozens of (admitedly ugly) people where being kept in cages in the fortress! I decided that the best thing to do would be to build a place for these poor, displaced people to live. To do this, I've set to having a portion of the underground put aside a a reservation, of sorts for these people.

Agrh! Are they rabid or something? One of these unhealthyly greenish-looking guys nearly bit my finger clean off! I suppose that as much as I want to help these folks, I'm going to need to keep them from, erm, eating us. I think I know what will work. I do want to say, I really appreciate the attitude the short guys around here have. At first, when I started talking about helping the caged people, they where really wary. But once I said I wanted to help them, they warmed up to the idea. One of them even came up to me and said, "Har, yeah, sounds like a great idea! I can't wait to help them." I wonder why he did the finger quotes when he said that, though. Must be a local custom.

EDIT: Midwinter now. I still have no idea where anything at all is. And the baroness is still throwing temper tantrums every few hours.

"Yep," replied the second, with the economy of words so common to his people. After a pause, in which the cries of screaming humanoids could be heard through thick stone, he continued "Also, quite impressive the pitch he reached when they charged at him. It shattered the windows!"
"Indeed."
A pause.
"Well, let's see about appointing that next administrator, shall we?"
