First immigrant wave came with a whopping..... 3.
On a side note, does anyone know a utitility that lets me change the fortress name? I want to change it to one of the names of Moria. Like, the The Black Pit, or something.

Don't forget to make a large lake with a Pond Grabber or something like it at the main entrance

It's not worth it. Believe me. After initial cleaning up it becomes dull as hell...

Pearls? Pearls? The great mines of Moria even cannoniclly contained pearls? Did the dwarves discover some form of subterrainian sea life, or was the world literally their oyster? Maybe it was just an indication that the original dwarves emparked on a sand map.

They probably had sand.  The elven door faced the fen of the Watcher in the Water.  Suspicious place to put an access tunnel for 'friends', if you ask me.

It's not worth it. Believe me. No matter what you will do over glowing floor (be it building floor, wall, dumping elephants' left tusks on it), after you remove the weapon demons will break THROUGH the floor. If you want to simply get into lower passages, just make a down stair a little to the side from entrance (ignore the seal).
