Leftover siege garbage?
« on: July 08, 2010, 05:46:37 pm »

My trap hallway has a lot of clothing in it dropped during goblin attacks.  However, my dwarfs aren't cleaning it up.

There's room in both my refuse and clothing stockpiles.
I've made sure none of it is forbidden.
I've tried forbidding it and reclaiming it.
I've tried designating it all for dumping.
Dwarfs are set to gather refuse.

Anyone seen this before?  Anyone know how to fix it?

I've seen a few single pieces of clothing that dwarves have refused to move. Generally, this happens after I dump caged goblins' gear. When I reclaim the stack of clothes, they start moving them to stockpiles, but when I check back later there are still a couple items that nobody is touching. I thought that maybe it was a case of the items being owned by dwarves, in my case, maybe even items that they had stripped off and replaced with the goblin gear.

Ah!  Indeed, looking closer it does appear to be owned by dwarfs.

Still... how can I make those messy louts clean up their junk?

In theory, provide each of them with lots of cabinets and chests in their bedrooms and lots of free time to go clean up all their crap.

Alternately, flood the trap hallway with magma.

You might have so many items scheduled to be hauled that it takes a long time to get your dwarves to haul the new stuff.

No, that's not it.  I've got 75 idlers.  It's been sitting around for several years.
