hello this is another confusing step by step guide in the world of Demon/creature summoning and what not.
note this uses runesmith or Dwarf companion of 31.# era. If you don't know about either of them then you will be totally lost because it heavily uses it, in fact the only other way you can get a demon is if the town has it as a prisoner which is rare.
edit:also I don't think runesmith was updated nor slavery enhancer so pulling this off in the new versions might not work. still
first thing get runesmith which won't be that hard if you visit dfmodding. or herestep 2.
make sure you have dwarf fort.06 or higher runesmith does not work with .05 or below.
step 3. check for which version you are using
if you skip step 2 for you are using the current version (or it does work with 05 and below and I was wrong)
step 4. gen a world
gen a world and start up a adventurer for starters try dwarf since runesmith's main race default is dwarf. you can change it with the options tab to get access to moods of your adventurer if you have a nondwarf character.
step 5. finding a a poor sap to join
this is a iffy subject since the poor sap must have the ability of speech or you will get is a non hostile creature so once you found the sap just go into your runesmith and find said sap again and check off these in the sap's tabs*
diplomat,(flag)
tame,(flag)
player civ(misc tab)
historical fig 1 and 2,(flag)
is resident(flag)
*if sap is already in a race that can talk like goblin, elf, dwarf, human then ignore most of those flags for it mostly for calming down hostile beasts.
step 6 the main one ADVENTURE TRAIT!
This is needed if the creature does not have a high or max level of this trait then they will blow you off, from farmers to guards to random gen monsters they need this trait to join.
to find this go to the trait tab of the poor sap then either add it in or search for it. if it's the latter(not in the add trait box) then it should be the one talking about change or routine
step 7 talking to the poor sap to join there no asking when we know sap going to say yes.
this one can be easy if you find the sap first before editing the sap data.
best if you start the conversation with a town member or in close view by warping you or the sap too you*
there is a chance that the sap might be in shock from the teleport and might need a kick in the leg from a random creature to get them talking. choose the random creature wisely or you might dethrone somebody.
step 8 save before you travel
not a big one but seeing how you are either pulling hellspawn from 100 z levels to work for you and/or nobles you don't like. the game might crash if you at least try to save first so all that hard work won't be lost
note hellspawn or DEMON_# are not named so finding the right one may take some time searching through each position and cross checking your own to see if it match up
so you should be on your way to sitting back and watching your minions do your dirty work.
best to combine this with
slavery enhancer to start a family or keep most of the embark party when you abandon, but explaining how that works is another thread.
edit:also by performing this you have now broke the game seeing how you now know how to brainwash anything with a speaking ability.

I'm trying to find a loop hole to this that won't remove their ranks.
So far this can work with warlords, and mayors but not on chief medical dwarfs or diplomats.
