What's your weapon of choice?

Personally, what's your favourite weapon to kit out your dwarfs with? Nevermind which is stastically best, which do -you- prefer?

Personally, I find axes to be the most 'dwarfy' obviously, though I tend to lean towards maces or hammers, I like to think the sheer brutality of blunt force strikes fear into my foes. Spears are always a plus so long as it's not against undead or the other piercing resistant foes.

Swords have always been my favorite weapon in fantasy games. This probably dates back to playing the original Diablo, where my main character had something of a sword fixation.

I'm kinda weird about cuts IRL, so I generally go for blunt-force or piercing weapons like spears (or the humble pick, a mix of the two) in fantasy settings. For my dwarves, though, it's battle axes and serrated disc traps all the way.

I love to make fully-armoured speardwarves as gate guards.  They're probably stastically useless, but I need them to look the part in my mind.

Plus they tend to deal with unarmoured thieves and snatchers in a most satisfying way!  Only yesterday a gatedwarf stabbed a kobold in the eye......and then twisted the spear round in the socket!

So long as the spears are of a good quality and the dwarves are well trained, the spears will probably be the best weapon to use against most organic enemies, since internal organs don't tend to get a kick out of being stabbed.

Maces, because macedwarves are red, and this is very fitting. Armok is god of blood, y'know.
But if we set colors aside, I would prefer hammers for the guards and axes for the military.

Mining picks are both weapons and mining equipment.
Plus, the mining skill doubles as a fighting skill.
So, just max mining and fighter, and you'll have deadly dwarves.
I've managed to kill quite a few beasties with them.

I already posted a thread like this but I think it is really old now,but anyway MINING PICKS!they help forge the tunnels of your empire and they seem to pierce armour.

Also, don't forget about daggers. They are cool for adventuring, and you can throw them too.

As an adventurer? Well, my 31.X adventurer I keep returning to is a goblin with a bronze greatsword. I really need to get on making some adamantine stuff for him.

For my dwarves, though, it's axes all the way.
