I thought feudalism only works if there's a war.

In the days when Sussman was a novice, Minsky once came to him as he sat hacking at the PDP-6.
“What are you doing?”, asked Minsky. “I am training a randomly wired neural net to play Tic-Tac-Toe” Sussman replied. “Why is the net wired randomly?”, asked Minsky. “I do not want it to have any preconceptions of how to play”, Sussman said.
Minsky then shut his eyes. “Why do you close your eyes?”, Sussman asked his teacher.
“So that the room will be empty.”
At that moment, Sussman was enlightened.

Considering feudalism lasted around 1000 years, I'd say that's false.

Can I get in on Royal Alchemist? I'm just Hydrochloric Acid away from being able to purify metals using chemicals I know how to extract from natural substances. Plus I know how to make soap from similarly obtained ingredients (no buying industrially-produced NaOH for me!).

You realize you just admitted to being a soap maker on these forums, right?

Let him be. Historical feudalism was dirty and even sometimes stinking, but why make the same mistake?

Or you just need a state of war that lasts a thousand years.  Indefinite peace is a very modern invention.

Motto: quare abyssus non (why the hell not)
seeing The King's really lax way of governing, This should be the Official Motto of the Yet-To-Be-Named Kingdom.

Sure, why not.  I have no ability to photoshop anything, and my emblem must be a suitably metal album cover.  I'll have to stick it to one somehow.

Oh, and for whoever asked about when the Hell I sleep (Kael right?), I sleep 5AM to 11AM.  Now you know.

*Ahem*

The Lord Pillock of Erkinshire, formerly known as CJ, wishes to dispute the title of Lord ToonyMan's, known henceforth as the "Knight of Time" on the grounds that he himself is a Time Lord, and better suited to the tasks such a job might entail.

Does Thou have Armor? Or a Horse? Knight Challenges are Either Jousts or a Duel of some kind.
Also, where is this Erkinshire? Its not in my list of fiefs. Are you one of the claim holders that have not set up their stuff?

If there are two Knights of Time, why not make one be Knight of Past and another be Knight of Future?
Time's plentiful, there's enough for two.

The Knight Of Time Was Challenged! That is a good idea, but we must resolve the challenge first. this is Feudalism, not diplomacy.

Heck, make it a whole knightly order - The Knights of Time - and they'll be like "of Past", "of Future", "of Present", and "of Never" at the top, and all the lower knights get to be "of Yesterday", "of Later", "of 4'o'clock", and whatever else.

Or maybe that's a load of horseshit.  I'm just saying I'd endorse it if it came to that.

M'Lord, I request the title of Lord Duke the Second, governor of the chilly plains of the southern Bay12. I request this due to my services of Defender during your term as Baron, a title I defended every time others would come to dispute it without a fair election. Not to mention creating the best you were to fight to become the King of Tejas.

Just promise me I won't be required to make any other creations that eat the laws of reality.

Acquiescence of unimportant policies fits fine with my ultimate goal of keeping things running in some semblance of smooth.  System work best when you let them shake out on their own.  That being said-

Well, it is an abomination, but for the preservation of the structure they should keep their fiefs separate.  Can't have anybody getting too rich.  I could entertain the idea of them moving their fiefs together though, or exchange with a local.  Unless "merge fiefs" is a euphemism for some horrible act of sodomy, in which case, no you can't.  That's not really part of Feudalism, I'm just saying that's gross and I wouldn't allow it if I was king.  ...Which if I was king, would make it part of Feudalism.  Divine right is funny like that.

There, I shot down merging fiefs in homo marriages, and any other nasty shit that follows.  I gots no problem with the gays, but keep it out of my manorial politics.

Just promise me I won't be required to make any other creations that eat the laws of reality.

Once again, you did that shit yourself, and have no one else to blame for the consequences.  Otherwise, cool, more vassals.  Plant a flag wherever you want one.
