All three need his approval, which I got, so it's fine.

And yeah, I'll ask Aklyon if I can make it 2 years.

And I have No Idea. I've never had to catch one. I guess they could, but I wouldn't know how long it would take them.

Maggarg. How hard are sand imps to catch?

Well, he didn't say he wanted Rangers, just a Ranger-trained personal guard, thats why I said yes without being picky.

If you wanted actual Rangers, I'd have to go find my copy of the first Ranger's Apprentice book and find the rest of what you need to be picked as a Ranger's Apprentice besides asking.
It seems that not only is six months not enough time and the rangers seem semi mythical so I don't think your guys will be as good as them but still the best this side of the whatever it is called generic landmark.
they are treated kinda semi-mythically, because if you stand completely still long enough while wearing camoflage, no one notices you at all unless they're looking specifically for you, or until you move again, and then it looks like you just appeared out of that tree or bush, which freaks the heck out of most people.

also, yes, 2 years will get you some very good marksmen with some amount of knife skill, though you'll have to supply your own knives if you want that. I can't be spending extra money on knives for people who aren't going to be official Rangers when we have more necessary uses for our part of the castle budget, like getting a decent amount of Desert Camo cloaks made, and equipment for new apprentices.

Don't worry about knife training, I'll have them toting around tulwars and such. Though if I could get some rudimentry stealth training, that would be grand. Also, I'll supply money for the best bows your own rangers are provided with, provided the 'best bows' aren't 'This bow was made nine thousand years ago by three generations of my ancestors, it took ninety-six years to shape after my great-etc grandfather first climbed to the pinnacle of the greatest oak tree in the land and carved the facing from it. A thousand-thousand yew trees were butchered in order to find a single one with the perfect amount of spring, and the thread is actually spider-web that has been gathered from the now-deceased and fabled monster spider in ang-shralah and carefully treated to remove it's deadly neuro-toxins... and stickiness.'

But I think I'll keep it at that, lest I butcher my economy. However, I'll still send by caravan all desertous ingredients for the dye to your headquarters until your current quota is filled, pro gratis.

I guess I should chuck that down as a trade route?

I lumped your entire economy in one line.

Lets see how well that works out for me.

No, though Rangers might be thought as semi-mythical by the unlearned serfs, they don't have awesome artifact ridiculous bows like that, unless they inherited one (my character has both a plain longbow sitting next to his desk, and one that turns anything shot from it into a lightning bolt inside a ridiculously secure box marked "For EXTREME Emergencies only!!!!",with the stamp taking up the entire side of the box). just plain (but very well-made) longbows/apprentice recurve bows.
if you want the stealth training, make sure they can be quiet and still for a decent amount of time without getting too bored.

Its really more of a supply route than a trade route. I'll mark off part of our budget for it.

Awesome. Money. Money is always awesome.

They're my best men, so they'd better be disciplined. Plus... They live in a desert. I don't think there'll be any problems with boredom.\\

@Cryptfiend: Does that mean I've got the highest chance of a rebellion? That's a little scary.
Also, I changed my above list a bit to include the fishing village. Which I should probably get around to drawing or something.

Archangel:

Resources
One ultra-badass, BFS wielding, chainmail wearing Faithwarden
The Church of Rotarn
The many worshipers of Rotarn
Several thousand Crusaders of Justice
Many churches dotted around the land
A Crusader barracks in any population center larger than Medium Town size

"Wha- Where the Fuck did that come from?"

Actually, you do realise you've got 'crusaders of 'justice'' in both my town, and maggarg's? Have fun with that.

We adjust to the person in charge. For example, our job in the lands of an "Evil Overlord" is to ensure a certain level of consistency. With you... um, we'll try to make sure that if someone irrefutably guilty he will be punished accordingly or something.

Awesome. So you're like a police force in the good towns, and a corrupt police force in the bad towns, except we don't have to pay you?

It's more a case of knowing which battles to not fight, but the effect is pretty much the same.

@Cryptfiend: Does that mean I've got the highest chance of a rebellion? That's a little scary.

Yes, on the other hand it opens up other things that come with lots of poor people.
