Are you running Vista? If so you have to disable ASLR on the Dwarf Fortress executable file.

So 3D Dwarf is amazing. I can see how it's going to make me think more in the future when it comes to Fortress design.

My current Fortress is actually my first one, so there's a lot of it that was done just out of experimentation with the game. My workshops are in bad locations, I have a poorly set up farming system, and my bedrooms are impractical. But I did manage to complete two large towers outside the main entrance, along with a large roof over the entrance way, and I've carved out walls in the front. I also have a bottomless pit, and about 3/4 of the way up it I built a pyramid like structure that rises up out of it. I'm planning on adding a large spire on the very top. The pyramid has large holes in the bottom for dumping and is also used to store my coffins for the 50+ dwarves I've gotten killed so far  :D

I'll upload a picture of my meager fortress once I figure out how :P

I remember building what I thought was a huge wall, it was 2 levels tall and had walkways along the top... then when I saw it in 3Dwarf, I realized it totally sucked. ;)

He  needs none. This place has so much of pure awesomeness that it condensates and can be ingested orally.

Hmmm i was thinking a bit. Would it be possible to these two things:

1) Switch to a Java base so the viewer can be used as "Applet" on a webpage. and

2) Condensing the data the Viewer draws from the memory into a small file which can be used by the Applet suggested in point 1.

It would be neat to see the Forts in 3D without posting hundrets of screenshots on The Map-archive for example.

There are none. It wasn't really made to be a functioning fortress, but it would work just fine with a farm patch or two.

BAH! thats cheating! How did you build it then? How do you build huge things without a functioning self sustaining group of dwarfs food and booze? Look at my forts, not as big or as impressive but built in the middle of raids, dragons, snatchers and other such things.
