Thanks for the comments. I'll try to upload a working copy to dfma once I get back to my desktop which can handle such things, hopefully within a day or two.

Completed my gate ramps.  :D  Solid andesite.  The things are completely full.  Took four years to build.

This is the area where I'm planning to build my next fortress, MorningGlory. The roughly square grassy area will serve as the main square. The slopes around it will be reworked into carved facades for the various subdivisions of the fort, each one a different building embedded in the mountain. I'd love to hear some ideas for the buildings.

Good work. Aside from the smooth gem wall showing up as a wood texture and the ramps in the vizualizer not allowing for all of the movement that is available in the map on DF, I thought this program was awesome. I would really like to see the textures in the vizualizer change along with the tile tags in DF. That way, after a medium to large battle in DF, I can export the map and see blood, ichor, vomit, and the remains of bolts and arrows all around the entrance.

ACP, you need to carve Chuck Norris's face into the cliff wall. or you could make the Taj Mahal, Parthenon, or the Coliseum.

Pardon if this has been mentioned before, but I have a suggestion for the furture playability of this visual dwarf fortress.

Have you ever considered making this a seperate window from the main DF window?  That is to say, have it leech the draws from DF and redo them in 3D in a seperate window.  You could have a two-wondow implimentation where you can still use the DF interface for actual menus and build commands, but then watch the game "broadcast" in 3D to another window.

I think someone's already made such a thing... Lifevis or something like that? It's somewhere on my list of posts...

How can one modify the textures coming with 3dwarf? I don't really like the ugly white ramps with letters on them, but any image editor I have access to either doesn't support TGA or saves it in some other fashion so 3dwarf cannot recognize it (and file size is different from the original too).

Is there any chance of a ground view mode? You'd be anchored to the ground and could use steps and ramps and what not. Maybe have a compass put in.

Not sure, but it starts to look like that this project is abandoned in favor of Lifevis. Which, for the purposes of sightseeing and making awesome "photos" of your fort, is vastly inferior to 3Dwarf.

Now I have looked through several means of editing TGA files, but none of the edited files seem to work. I'm just shown white geometry with no textures at all. Gonna give up on that.

Well, you gotta take into consideration that the only updates to this project coincided with the release of new versions, and there hasn't been one in ages.
