in a bit, question though: do you have dwarf fortress running and is the executable still called "dwarfort.exe"?

also: what os are you on? are you logged in as administrator?

edit: the file is deleted. what.

I'm having trouble with the camera getting stuck.  The program isn't crashing because I can still use most of the commands, but when i try to look around with the mouse or arrow keys, nothing happens.

Yes, I had df running and the exe is called dwarfort.exe. I use windows 98 and I don't know if it has different login options, but it has never stopped me from doing things that only an admin should probably do.

I don't know why the file was deleted but I have uploaded it again. http://rapidshare.com/files/89173726/region1.zip.html

There are a few different ways of going through the processes currently running on a Windows machine... but at least one of them doesn't work on 9x. I would guess that's what's going on. Try modifying* map_extract.pl to output the executable name of every process in the list; if it outputs nothing that means perl's Win32 process stuff doesn't work on 9x (I don't know if it does, a cursory googling doesn't reveal anything clear to me), and otherwise it should help clarify why it's failing to find DF.

*
Where it says

code:

$dwarf_pid = $key   if ( $list{$key} =~ /dwarfort.exe/ );

insert
code:

print $list{$key}."\n";

just before, in the same {} block.

Also, Razornose:

It'll be more interesting to look at once more work gets done on the area depicted in the second screenshot.

I get the following error

I tried moving the folder to the C:\, where it worked, except I then got the error:

I had this problem too.  What you have to do is create a new folder in \3dwarf_04\prog\ named 'lite' .

I added the line
code:
 print $list{$key}."\n";

and then it showed a list of processes including DF. I then tried changing dwarfort.exe in the line
code:
 $dwarf_pid = $key   if ( $list{$key} =~ /dwarfort.exe/ );

to DWARFORT.EXE because it was in capitals in the given list of processes and it worked.

Here's Daggerpants (bridges are not visible apparently)

Due to my old computer I probably won't continue with this fortress. I get 2 or 3 FPS. I will never get to raise the bridges while goblins are charging over them, but I did try it on the elves once.

It's amazing that you even built that then!  With only 2-3 fps I mean. Wow.

Something I'd like to see, don't know if this has been said before (or even if I'VE said it before...), but seeing it in 3Dwarf would be the best way...

Arthur Dent Throwing The Nutrimatic Cup. Naturally caveins would have to be turned off for the cup to be hovering properly. And it MUST be carved from solid marble. And the fortress must be in the ear. And populated by swallowmen.

Does this work with 38a?  I'm doing everything as instructed but it's not working.  It shows:

Pressing any key just closes it.

Yeah, same problem here.  Must not be compatible with this version yet.

Hopefully that gets fixed!!!!

The tower of Isengard is completed!  I'll show it off as soon as 3Dwarf is updated to 38a.
