To be fair, the last 10 responses are from 8 weeks ago or less.  I don't think it's been necro'd at this point, it's reactivated, reawakened...revitalized!

BTW someone get a hold of the guy who said he'd make an animation and hold him accountable!!!!  >:(

THIS IS WHAT IS UP.
it is on hold for now.
it probably won't be till around october
Necroing this thread before October is completely pointless.

Necroing this thread before October is completely pointless.

[sigh] The OP was started by LavaLevel and his last post on this thread was May 16. Personally, I do not consider that old enough to be a "necro", even if LavaLevel's post was the most recent (which it is not). In fact, if you look carefully, you'll see that posts on this thread have been semi-regular since then, with at least one post a week.

I think the confusion about posting to this thread being called "necro" is due to this post:
*necros with fancy powers from the future*
He claimed his own post was a necro, but it had only been two days since someone had posted. Obviously, that was not a necro.

As for the validity of posting here (even before October), I can think of several reasons for doing so:
1) To provide encouragement to LavaLevel to let him know that we really want to see his Boatmurdered animation finished.
2) To provide suggestions to LavaLevel for this animation.
3) To discuss the legend that is Boatmurdered.
4) To discuss ideas about or the merits of turning a specific DF LP or succession story into an animated film.

To be fair, there might be some who would consider 3) or 4) to be slightly off topic. But, apparently, many posters here do not and the OP never complained about it.

I'm curious: If posting in this thread "bothers people"... why?

And if there is a valid answer to that: Why is that reason enough for Toady to potentially close this thread? Can't you just ignore this if it botheres you? After all, you know the thread and that it tends to obviously bother you to read it, so don't.

Yikes man. That's kind of unnecessary. Besides, aren't you perpetuating posting by posting that?

the conditions were bad enough to turn a dwarf who didn't care about anything mad, that's pretty hardcore.

Toady said stop necro'ing the thread, so stop necro'ing the thread. Problem solved.

I'm curious: If posting in this thread "bothers people"... why?

I think the reason is because it's been a while since the thread was started, and it appears to be a project that either is on hold or abandoned, so people dislike that it's being kept alive despite the fact it's "obviously" dead.

I personally don't think it's being necro'd, and as long as any posts remain both recent and on-topic, I see no reason to have it locked.  Having said that, I'm not Toady.  His word is final, and while I would hope he'd reconsider his position given some of the recent replies, he gets to make the call.

Now I don't know if I should be forbidden posting here too! By end of October myself and my partner Tom will have finished our final uni films and will then resume production. We also have another buddy who is keen to help us finish it up.
It will be done... There has just been a hilariously long gap in the production. Think of us like valve but with no guarantee of quality.
Though I can tell you we are now much better animators than when we started! Haha.
Sorry for the absurd delays.

Awesome-ness.

Let's see, if your films will be done by the end of October, and then you get back to work... How close are you?

If you're really, really close, November is gonna be the best month I've ever had.
