I'm curious though: Aside from Boatmurdered, what other epic DF tales do you think would make for a great movie/video? To be more specific: If it were up to you, which other DF stories would you prefer to see made into film shorts?

Headshoots, maybe?

I should try organizing a full-length film for one of these DF games
besides headshoots and syrupleaf. those ones are way too obviouse.

Ironblood?

Nomekast could be filmworthy, maybe.

Nist Akath is pretty awesome. Flamebanner (by thunderclan) is a pretty good story too, though I don't know how much of the story was borrowed from a series about cats. (Haven't read that series, I believe.)

Any updates as to the movie itself?

Yeah, they are a bit obviouse, but both are infinitely more entertaining than Boatmurdered. I still haven't managed to understand why Boatmurdered, of all things, managed to obtain the legendary status it has today.
Some of the battles in Syrupleaf would be... well, epic is the only word that really fits here. And it would be just awesome in general. I think it would require a whole season of a series though; the story is way too cool to confine it to a short animation.

So we got monsters above, monsters below, dwarves in the middle and a party in the dining hall. Sounds good to me.
If all else fails, remember one thing:  kittens are delicious, nutritious little goblin-baiters, cavern explorers, and ambush-finders.

Because of the name, the elephants. I mean seriously, you're acting like it's an offensively bad story. Which is simply untrue.

I'll just namedrop "Seinfeld is Unfunny" rather than linking it, if that's OK with everyone.

Subtle. Seriously, for a minute there I thought you were referring to the name of some Fortress story.
Anyway, I am not familiar enough with other DF stories to make a comparison.

As Strongrudder is implying, it's just because Boatmurdered was first. The others all came much later, and many of them were inspired by it.

Others, like Nist Akath and Migurust are in a very different category. And quite good on their own, being crafted by a single author and all.

You forget that it was a Monarch Butterfly that began the end of Boatmurdered.

Same. Boatmurdered was what got me into DF, and although it's tame compared to some of the new stuff, it is still awsome.

I had an above ground garden built in the grounds of my castle and two young dwarves spent time socialising there over the summer and at the end of the summer they were in love. Remember those long summers of your childhood? That first kiss in the gardens while crossbows dwarves shoot goblins above your head? The rain of dead birds as the hunters get to work? Truly Spearhills is a paradise.
