Turn 18: Hammer Time
Appear to the elves and show how good at destruction magic I am by making the dark elf explode. After that I teach them about civilisation, and how to use tools to help daily life.
Ochita attempts to blow up the dark elf. [3] He merely creates an explosion around him, and the dark elf remains alive but very badly burnt. Reaction [2] The elves don't respond well to this sudden act of aggression, and aren't much interested in what Ochita has to say next. Civilization [1] Ochita's speech on civilization only encourages them to avoid working together for fear of attacks like he just did. Tools [4] Ochita manages to explain the basics of tools for daily life, but only a handful are willing to listen and try them out.
Dark elf badly burnt. Elves on Ochimoon rendered mostly indignant at Ochita, handful develop mundane tools or scheming distrust of civilization.Hozlings [3], Reaction [5]. The Hozlings vaguely understand Ochita as a magical crystal, and begin to regard him as a deity deserving admiration.
I bring my Aquatic Elves civilization by horrifically mutating one of their number into an appalling monstrosity that is completely immune to the kelp-drugs and unable to swim. THAT is a being of chaos. Follow Law and create a civilization. Now.
Nirur attempts to warp an elf into a monstrosity. [1] It becomes a beatiful creature of flowing colors, able to shift to whatever form it wishes. Reaction [1] Oddly, the other elves are enraged that only that one gets special powers, and promptly attempt to kill it. [4] vs [5] The wily shapeshifter flows through the underbrush. Reaction [5] They all agree to set watches and murder it the first chance they get, and begin coming up with questions and codes to make sure each of them isn't the thing in disguise. Civilization [6] The elves hatefully begin making laws and organizing themselves out of a bitter commitment to make sure nobody other than themselves gets special powers.
Fluid elf created, which the aquatic elves loathe. Aquatic elves begin making hateful, bitter civilization with a strong commitment to the law.Hozlings [4], Reaction [3]. The Hozlings understand Nirur's basic tenets, but aren't particularly thrilled with their implementation.
Make the beast worms rage at thier captors, they shall not be domestic, also send the white beast to help
Yei'astol attempts to incite the beast worms to rebellion. [3] They begin thrashing around insolently, but they don't fully rebel, so much as act unruly. Beast [6] Answering the call of their goddess, the white beasts charge the warrior worms in a frothing rampage. [5] vs [3] They shatter the crude radish-pens and maul the warrior worms. Inspire [1] Seeing the feral majesty of the white beasts just makes the beast worms feel inadequate and tame.
Hozlings [5], Reaction [5]. The Hozlings grasp the nuances of Yei'astol's nature, and find it glorious and elegant. They consider her worth admiration.
KILL THE WHITE BEAST
Bob attempts to slay the white beasts. [6] Massive explosions rock the ukulele, and the white beasts are thrown aside, badly injured. Wormdodge [6] The worms hurl themselves into the radish, in the case of beast worms, or off the edge of the ukulele, in the case of the injured warrior worms. Good thing they can grab the side with their scythes.
Hozlings [2], Reaction [5]. The Hozlings don't really understand Bob at all, but put their own values of awesome in its place and so regard him as worthy of admiration.
I sigh and create glowing grass on shadow planet.
HmH attempts to create glowing grass. [3] It's awfully stubby and not very glowing, but it is technically grass and it covers a fair portion of the planet.
Weak, very faintly glowing grass added to shadow planet.Hozlings [4], Reaction [6]. The Hozlings understand the basic tenets of HmH, and feel a definite chord in at least a cultural sense. HmH and his works begins to appear a lot in the arts of the Hozlings, and they consider him worthy of admiration.
I again enlarge the one big Space Fish, so it is as large as a very large spaceship.
Cheeetar attempts to make a space fish ark. [3] It's pretty big, but more like a battleship than a hulking dreadnought.
Space fish further enlarged.Hozlings [6], Reaction [6]. Given the excruciating detail with which they're aware of Cheeetar, they begin incorporating him and his works into much of their art, and they consider him worthy of admiration.
Teach Hozlings about every god, entity, planet and actual happenings of the Universe, so they will know how badly screwed everything is.
Hozac attempts to teach his children about the gods and their universe. [3] It's fairly abstract to them, but many listen anyway.
Hoz-Tar [4], Reaction [6]. They grasp the details of their own world well enough, and become convinced it's the best by far.
Karus [6], Reaction [2]. They're rather overloaded with details from Karus, and simply conclude it's "full of stuff."
Agamemnoid [2], Reaction [4]. They don't grasp how Agamemnoid works very well, but are willing to make up stories regarding how crazy it is.
Yeimoon [1], Reaction [3]. They get a bit confused about Yeimoon, and just sort of remember some vague nonsense about it.
Ochimoon [4], Reaction [6]. They grasp Ochimoon well enough, and begin inventing fantastic stories about its delicious crystalline wonder.
Shadow Planet [5], Reaction [4]. They grasp the nuances of the shadow planet and its brutal inhabitants well, and consider it an intriguing place.
Ukulele Moon [6], Reaction [1]. They're overloaded with information about this ridiculous ukulele moon, and promptly forget or misremember everything about it.
Hemisphere Temple [4], Reaction [3]. They make note of the hemispherical temple, but it doesn't interest them much.
Grass Cube [1], Reaction [3]. They get information about the grass cube mixed up with everything else, and only remember vague half-truths as a result.
Hozlings granted knowledge of universe. Begin minor veneration of many other deities, as well as including said deities and their works in artwork. Begin producing more carvings as a result.Reaction [3]. They mull over this information, but don't react much to it yet.
Hozlings [6], Reaction [6]. They take in the minor details of Hozac, and gain even more respect and admiration for him. He and his works begins appearing in their art, and not just because that's what's all around them.
Vraccas continues work on his divine machine, nearly ready now to carry out his great plan.
Vraccas attempts to make the innards of the machine. [2] He mostly fails. Copying [1], Diversity [5]. The meager progress he happens to make would warp the subject into varied inverse copies, however.
Hozlings [6], Reaction [4]. The Hozlings learn minute details of Vraccas, and consider him favorably. Such details tend to end up in their art from time to time, and they consider him worthy of some respect.
Make the faux-herbivores actual herbivores.
The Karante attempts to make the abominations into actual herbivores. [3] They're still bestial and savage, but they at least eat plants and don't kill things just because. Usually.
Abominations rendered aggressive, temperamental herbivores with frequent horns, claws, and so on.Hozlings [3], Reaction [6]. The Hozlings only grasp some of The Karante's complexities, but are nonetheless awed by what they hear. Consequently, The Karante and its works begins appearing in Hozling art, and they consider The Karante worthy of some admiration.
Goombas on the grass planet, please!
Alex attempts to make squat mushroom-folk. [2] It doesn't work, though some small brown-capped mushrooms appear on the surface.
Small brown-capped mushrooms added to grass cube.Hozlings [4], Reaction [1]. The Hozlings understand most of Alex's tenets, and consider him a loathsome and foul deity as a result. He and his works occasionally appear in Hozling art, but only as foul villains.
So, I leave my workshop for now and concentrate on optimising the biosphere of Agamemnoid. All the muck (or most of it) needs to be drained and turned into soil, sand and stone. That way, more diverse biomes shall be created. If someone wants the excess water, he or she can take it, if not, I form an ice asteroid from it and haul it on a chaotic trajectory through our solar system.
Agamemnon attempts to turn the stagnant muck of Agamemnoid into soil. [6] He sucks the water right out, hardening the muck like concrete. Ice Comet [4] He fashions the water into a rather massive asteroid. Trajectory [3] It's put into an erratic but still somewhat predictable orbit of the system.
Muck on Agamemnoid replaced with hardened muck. Massive ice asteroid added in erratic trip of system.Hozlings [3], Reaction [3]. The Hozlings are vaguely aware of Agamemnon's edicts and vaguely okay with that.
Entities:Art!
The Hozlings attempt to thrive. [6] Their population booms into a large kingdom. Art [4] Artwork begins to appear in both items and carved onto walls.
Get Out?
The elves attempt to survive. [5] More vegetables from heaven are uncovered, and they do quite well. Navigation [6] They make it to the mountain range in the middle of Hoz-Tar. Now wha- wait what's that golden circle-thingy? Reaction [5] They perfectly understand what the symbols are trying to tell them, and conclude they can get off this rock! Timing [2] It won't be in the correct position for a while, though.
Thrive!
The fish attempt to thrive. [1] More mutations ripple through the population with disastrous effect. Mutation [6] At least some interesting atrocities arise from the carnage.
Thrive!
The beasts hunt. [6] More big game means the whole pack feasts.
LAW!
The aquatic elves attempt to thrive. [3] They do alright, but their stifling new ways of doing things are taking their toll. Civilization [3] They make some progress in building themselves up, but not very much.
Freeeeee!
The fluid elf attempts to survive. [3] Nothing out here is as tasty as the kelp. Experimentation [2] It doesn't learn much about itself.
Hunt!
The white beasts attempt to hunt. [1] They bite off more than they can chew and are injured by a herd of rhino-like creatures.
Thrive, WITH EXTREME PREJUDICE
The herbivores attempt to thrive. [4] They do well, recovering their numbers and spreading.
Hunt!
The carnivores attempt to hunt. [3] They do alright, but they're having a bit of trouble hunting these strange herbivores.
Thrive!
Plant life on Karus attempts to thrive. [1] The herbivores are more effective eating than destroying, and the plant life suffers with nature out of balance.
Thrive!
The myriad carrion-eating bugs attempt to thrive. [3] They do alright.
Thrive!
The kelp attempts to thrive. [3] It recovers what's being eaten.
PARTY WOOO!
The dwarves attempt to thrive. [4] They do well, continuing to expand. FUN [2]. They decide to avoid lighting anyone on fire or wearing pants of madness.
Numbers!
The claw dwarves attempt to thrive. [1] They're sick. Breeding [1] They manage to anger the normal dwarves with their leering advances. Without more of them, they don't think they'll be able to encourage civilization.
Thrive!
The elves attempt to thrive. [3] They do alright, but they're not feeling very good. Exploration [5]. They come across the roots of the mighty stand of trees. Bark [1] The bark, despite being more edible than normal, happens to be inedible to them specifically.
Thrive!
The secondary elves attempt to survive. [4] They manage to catch and eat an herbivore. Exploration [1] They wander into the dwarf camp. Reaction [1] The entire camp roars to life and begins hunting them like animals. [3] vs [1] The tide of dwarves swallows up the handful of elves, dragging them back to camp.
Thrive!
The herbivores attempt to thrive. [2] They do poorly. Muck [4] They can eat the stone-hard muck as easily, or perhaps better, than the muck.
Hunt!
The white beasts attempt to hunt. [1] They can't find anything.
Hunt!
The puppythings attempt to hunt. [3] They do alright.
Hunt!
The wolfmen attempt to hunt. [1] They're sick.
Thrive!
The trees attempt to thrive. [5] They spread into a massive grove covering a huge area, with behemoths at the center.
Hunt!
The white beasts attempt to hunt. [6] They bring down several yakmoose.
Help?
The elves attempt to thrive. [3] They're alright under the beasts' wings. Help [5] They figure out how to make the yakmoose horns into knives to carve up the meat.
Don't die
The fish attempt to not die. [6] They do this by breeding a lot. Mutation [2] They're still not very good at living though.
Thrive!
The yakmoose attempt to thrive. [2] There's nothing for them to eat.
Magic!
The elves attempt to thrive. [2] They don't do so well. They try to help the dark elf. [6] They manage to suck some of their own vitality out and give it to him. He likes that arrangement. Magic [2] They otherwise don't learn anything else.
HAHAHAHA!
The dark elf attempts to ingratiate itself further to the elves. [4] It succeeds in weaseling its way into their good graces, and they're now protective of it from Ochita's foul predations. Magic [3] It gains an inkling of magic, but otherwise remains conspicuously inept.
Scree!
The flying lizards attempt to thrive. [6] Great flocks of them take to the sky, migrating around.
Thrive!
The crystal plants attempt to thrive. [4] They continue their slow spread.
Thrive!
The elf mangroves attempt to thrive. [6] Some grow rather large and thick, and they spread a bit further as well.
Thrive!
The shadow insects attempt to thrive. [1] They're sick again. Medicine [3] They manage to make a concoction from popcorn and grass. Better than nothing.
hehehehe
The shadow spiders continue to haunt the shadow insects. [3] They cause mild curiosity and confusion.
Thrive!
The popcorn trees attempt to thrive. [6] They spread alarmingly far, and the shadow insects find themselves living in a forest.
Thrive!
The glowing grass attempts to thrive. [6] It spreads far and wide.
Climb!
The warrior worms attempt to climb back up to the surface. [1] They burrow in instead. Oh well.
Food?
The beast worms attempt to navigate the tunnels. [2] They're lost, and now ashamed of themselves.
Ohhhhh?
The hag elves attempt to thrive. [6] They multiply into a leering, cackling swarm infesting the tunnels. Digging [5] They have a magnificent warren surrounded by confusing traps.
Ow
The beasts attempt to recover. [1] Most of them succumb to their wounds.
Spread
The mushrooms try to spread. [1] Several patches die off, and they're somewhat rare now.
