@beorn: Wut, I didn't say it completely ruined the Wii by itself, it was part of the argument that Wii games tend to love the Wiimote too much, with their development pointed towards creating fun stuff to do with the Wiimote rather then creating an interesting game.

Also, eh, were did you get the idea that online play is p2p on the PS3 and 360? Unless you're talking about some obscure MMO, then I'll have to disagree, I played tons of PS3 games online without having to pay a penny.
For the 360, its p2p. The PS3 isn't, and I discovered that after posting.

As for interesting games on the Wii, Twilight Princess, Metroid, Mario Kart, Smash Brothers. That's what I can recall off the top of my head. Yes, there has been a prevalence of games that involve the use of the consoles primary control mechanism. I contend that PS3's and 360's also suffer from this.

Aye, but 98% of their games aren't a pain in the ass to play because said games were not initialy designed for the controller they use, or need an additional device to assure they work properly all the time (Wiimote plus?). I say 98% because both sony and microsoft have already delved into motion sensing territory, and have not produced anything interesting yet.

So how many games are horrible to control with the Wiimote? You named one so far. I haven't heard too many complaints about it in general, so I'm a touch confused.

I see the gaming world getting a little confused about where to go. Everyone's rushing towards whatever makes the most money, but what is it? Violent games, casual games, MMOs, nobody could make up their minds.

I do foresee a lot more people getting into casual games, which is a good thing IMO. I know a few people who play, say, Tycoons on Facebook and wish that there was a game more detailed on playing economics. Then I tell them about Capitalism 2 and they're hooked. Same for games like Evony leading people to play Medieval: Total War.

Console games are going to make the switch from casual to hardcore difficult, though, since a lot of the more hardcore games seem to be only on PC.

I'd say the Xbox won by people. PS3 didn't really get bought because of the insane fucking pricetag.
But the ps3 is still superior and the high price tag is for funding them able to be giving you:
A.blu ray
b.free PSN
c.overall better system
d.whatever elss that the ps3 does better, oh customer support and having not all DLC's that are free on PC cost money

Hey guys, its not time for a console war, because they both have pretty much the same games.
The problem is that game companies like to hype up nothing.

The game studios like to believe the way income is created is formulaic, start a project, work on project, create P&R for project, gain income, repeat.
Its not a bad idea in theory because I think things are alot more secure if you can account on them working as planned, but I do think there is a fallacy in simply following the leader, and that is seriously what is going on here.

Xbox720+

If the Xbox720 is cheap, I fail to see the problem.

I'd have a PS3 if it wasn't for the fact that I could buy two 360s and a cheap hooker for that price.

Oh, and it is going to crash. Too much derivation gets people tired.

I have no doubt that the Pokemon series will continue into the future. Barely anything must be added, save for new Pokemon and maybe one or two features. (Battle Frontier, Pokewalker, Et Cetera.)

ive never actually seen a PS3, and no, im not a resident of outer mongolia but Leeds (UK). Ive met a few people that own them but never seen or played on one.

Ive always felt that consoles are defined by the games that are released on them more than their physical specs. I thought the game cube was an awsome console, it was light, and dirt cheap, and powerful enough, but there were very few good games (games that id play, im not into mario etc). The sucess of the cross boxes has been in their ability to transfer the fps of PC to console and even online game play through halo, COD etc. I dont know about the PS3 (having never seen one) but the ps2 lay some where between nintendos casual, and the crossbox ardcore (ard core by console standards). I guess the question is, how competitive is this inbetween market. It could be since third persons, racing games and beat em ups are good fun, but do people want to pay the price tag if they can play the same games on cheaper consoles. Does the PS3 have a monolpoly on any games (is final fantasy PS only?)

im asking questions cos i dont know the answers, not out of sarcasm.

The prices are identical for the current primary models of both con soles - $299.99 USD at retail
