I'm more wondering how something with an exoskeleton can have visible fat in the first place.

That's a good point, but i'm fairly sure "emaciated" and "fat" are mutually exclusive.

I suggest you don't think too much what you build and where. When ever you need something, build it as close as possible to where you need it. that way your fortress will eventually become epic
Because god knows your duke will demand a kitten silo in his office.

Well... that's why he appears to be emanciapated. You go "why, he appears to be quite emanciapted! Oh no, my mistake, on further inspection he is actually quite fat" then die of poison.

"Oh ! A huge one-eyed poisonous tarentula demon from the Underworld ! Oh, but it's emaciated... no problem then."

That's because descriptions like "he's very emaciated" or "he squirms and fidgets" are completely random without any connection to their actual size/appearance/properties.

Maybe it's fat for an emaciated giant tarantula?

Also, Rube, do note that emancipated and emaciated have quite different meanings. Quite, quite different.

Christ, are you dwarves or are you elves? If you think Hell has too many demons, then you kill them till the population reaches an acceptable number.

Thinking about it, do spiders even accumulate fat the way that mammals do?

Buh, no, I meant to say that! I won't stop until we have equal rights for giant cycloptic tarantulas!

Nice. So you managed to find a tarantula with severe anorexia?

He obviously has crippling body issues.

Yeah! THIS spider appears to be emancipated, as he has cast off the shackles of our mammalian dominated society! You can tell he is emancipated because instead of cringing and bowing to his evolutionary superiors, he instead tries to eat them.

Well maybe he has gangly limbs and gaunt sunken eyes, but a bloated and swollen abdomen? (like, you know.. a spider of some sort)
