Nutfallen: an organifortress succession game
« on: July 02, 2010, 01:17:46 am »

Welcome...

to Nutfallen, a new dwarven fortress. We are a brave few, determined to get back to the roots of dwarfanity. We got tired of all of those monotonous square spaces, see, so we set out in search of a new home. Our goal is to make a natural-looking fortress, with none of those sissy stairs. No-siree, how do you expect us to get up or down them when we're drunk? And one digging shaft? what real dwarf does that? Finally, we love our winding hallways. Can't be too efficient now can we?
(We also noticed something funny: we can see in color now, instead of funny little characters. The rocks actually look like rocks now!)[metagod's note: this means i'm using the Phoebus's DF 31.08 version]
Our long term goal, seeing as we settled in a relatively sand-rich place, is to be a lively glassmaking industry.Short term goals include getting a solid water supply from the brook that's a short ways from our fortress, setting up a larger farm (currently we only have a small indoor corridor partially irrigated, and it's winter right now), and getting some large bedding/dining areas carved out. Here's some shots of what we've worked on so far:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

That's what i got from my head dwarf when i asked him why he embarked on this journey, and what his goals were. :)
Standard rule, 1 week for 1 year, if you can't make it then post so and we'll pass play onto the next guy. I have a few additional requests (so we can comply with Urist McHeadDwarf's purpose):
 * Don't dig out square rooms or straight corridors, try to make everything look as organic as possible.
 * No use of stairs, ramps all the way!
 * Don't dig the "main shaft" down any more.
 * Try not to make your designs too efficent. Make dwarves work for their work :p
 * Have fun!

As noted above, you may need Phoebus's graphics set.

I suggest you don't think too much what you build and where. When ever you need something, build it as close as possible to where you need it. that way your fortress will eventually become epic
Because god knows your duke will demand a kitten silo in his office.

I'm guessing dorfing means you get a dwarf named after you? I don't have control of the game right now, but i'm sure Minty could dorf you guys :)

And there you go, signed up!

Hmmm, wasn't expecting to be added... But this should be interesting. Now to devise a clever megaconstruction.

Also, I'm glad my turn is far out - I have a ton of work in the next 2 weeks. :S
