The thing is, genetically "add extra legs/eyes/arms/whatever sorta like spore" is as hard, or much harder than, simple flight.
For flight, you just need to flatten something, anything really, and flap it. Adding extra limbs require all sorts of structural changes at a bazillion layers.
Things that are hard or easy to do when designing an animal are vastly different from what is hard or easy to do when designing a machine, and you really only have intuitions or experiences for designing machines.
When manipulating DNA, for a metaphor, you are writing code that will draw a fractal, not drawing an image using a pencil.
It is all very counter-intuitive.

wich is why the only remaining viable options is to just say that the players have perfect controle over morphology, or no controle over morphology.

Its not as simple as that. Let it go the way that the GM wants. Also, please spellcheck or go over your posts.

Ochita is right there, I want to keep things simple, both for my sake and the rest of the players which sadly means ignoring actual biology.

Umm, "no morphology changes" and "anything goes" ARE simple.

Yes but they are also not following the aim of the game. Which is why we have our current system.
