Okay, so, today this girl I know-Lauren, just took a sudden dis-interest in talking to me. Is she just on her period or something?

... I fail to see the problem here. What's wrong with more Justin Bieber?

He kidnapped a five-year old boy and stole his voice.

Exactly. That's some supervillain-level evil going on there.

They blew up that van.
Well in their defense they were only supposed to blow the bloody doors off.

Back on topic, the Holodomor (hunger-plague) was the artificial famine engineered by the Communists in Russia to both ethnicly and ideologically cleanse the Ukraine of free landholding Ukrainian farmers and break Ukrainian nationalism. In some ways I find it worse than the Holocaust, since Zyklon B will at least kill you in twenty minutes, whereas starvation kills you across months. Mass murder is always a repulsive thing, however. Not making an arguement there.

Well, that depends on what camp the Nazi's sent you to. If you were too young, too old, a woman at all, or specificly marked for death by someone in the hiearchy then it would be a trip to the death camps, but those fit for work went through far worse than the Holodomor. Slowly being worked to death, being fed just enough rotting food and contaiminated water to stay alive. Having any valuble tooth fillings removed, by the camp doctor if you got lucky, by having your face broken via the nearist greedy guard if you did not. Insane medical experimentation at the whims of the very same doctors. Death marches across miles and miles of freezing snow.

The Holodomor brought starvation and eventual cannibalism, but it was nowhere near as brutal as the Holocaust. Also, Wikipedia says that Holodomor translates to (murder-by-hunger). As for what caused more death, estimates place the Holodomor causing between 2 and 10 million deaths. It could be more or less than the holocaust.

Why is that on topic? This thread isn't really about atrocities committed by the Soviet Union. It is about Capitalism. Pointing out atrocities committed by Communist nations is a bit of a strawman because it says nothing about whether Capitalism is the best direction to go in in terms of an economy.

The inquisition happened, and I honestly do not have the information to say how big it was. The point here is, they killed people because they would not follow their religious ideals. How do we see that in today's world?

The Holodomor.

Its a good thing I'm not using it as a strawman, but just answering the gentleman's question.

But that doesn't work. The Holodomor wasn't religiously motivated. Stalin was using it to make sure the nations of the Soviet Union did not try and break away from the union, Ukraine most of all.

Ok, now I get it. I'm sorry If i explained myself badly, I didn't mean mass killing and ethnic cleansing does not happen in today's world ( hello Africa) or that the inquisition was the only one that did it. When I said "How do we see that in today's world" I meant: How do we judge this when it happens? Do we agree with it or are they crimes against humanity? Being them crimes against humanity, how can we stop and say: oh, the inquisition wasn't so bad?
Its part of my argument against theocracy, because as I said in my posts, Religion in power makes that kinda stuff way too easy to happen, since religion deal in absolutes and demonizes their antagonists more often than other social constructs.
