It's really sad how few games there are that really allow you to mess shit up.

Populous 3 is full of nostalgia for me. Whilst your terraforming abilities are limited, they can be abused against the AI for lots of mindless fun. Speaking of AI, I found it to be quite a challenge and not as dumb as you'd expect: I always tried sinking the land under their docks or blocking them in with landbridges, but the enemy shaman would always try to fix my meddling. And then plant a volcano in the center of my village.

The sound effects and graphics have a certain charm, too; classic Bullfrog. I highly recommend it, if it'll even play on modern machines. :)

For lulz: Volcano the enemy's reincarnation site, then cast a flattening spell at the summit. When she dies, she'll respawn on an inescapable plateau. :D

I once shot a bear in the eye with a bow on the first shot, cut it up, found another one, and shot it in the eye too. The collective pile of meat weighed more than my house.

DMC4, it doesn't give you world creaing power but comes close, also killing mobs has never been so awesome and fun to do, especially later in the game when you unlock some wicked stuff for Dante
