So, The Spiral of Stone crumbled in a tantrum spiral. I need some idea for a new fort, some theme for it.
Used up ideas:

Crystal glass honeycomb
Steel Castle with magma moat
Giant corkscrew

So, something like (or unlike) these

make a fractal triangular fortress, one big central triangle, LOTS OF LITTLE AWKWARD ONES.
either that or make a statue of something nifty.

embark on a flat zone with no river.. channel down as far as you can go, but each time you finish a zlevel, take one side off effectivly  making an inverse pyramid

goood.... but no good enough! those can be your mini idol that sit around the big one

for the real one the torso needs to be much fatter, like a toad, and the front elbows need to protrude outward to the side, like you hands on your hips

A huge fortress inside a giant toad statue, with several little froggies like the one above... Suspended on a platform above inverse-pyramid?

Sounds good enough. Now, for plans...

If you're going to do it temple-style, might I suggest looking up other cool thematic elements to add? You could probably fill the inverse pyramid with water or magma and add stylized pillars sticking out of the waters beside the walkway to the toad and such.

better yet make 4 huge pillars coming out of the smaller toads that powers your waterfalls the gracefully falls upon the toad
