Well I don't think I've found anything interesting down there that others haven't. Though one thing I have observed is that as soon as you breach a new cavern layer, all of the flora from the layer can begin growing on any Z level. My tree farm has trees from both layers 1 and 2 growing in it.

If you embark on an evil biome the creatures underground may also be undead.

I'm curious - I've been reading through creature_next_underground, and I'm wondering if anyone here has seen a giant earthworm yet. I haven't.

In the raws you can see that each creature can appear in cavern 1, 2, or 3. Sometimes more than one layer, sometimes just one layer.

Deeper you dig the more exotic the creatures become. You're not going to find blind cave dragons in the first cavern, but you can find them in the third cavern.

Oddly enough living things are an endangered species in my fort the only wild animal in the entire area is a pondgrabber and possibly a GCS (mind I'm only in the first cavern so far)

I don't know why everyone's s-blocking everything. The thread's already marked as a spoiler thread. Also are the caverns really a

My first unkillable FB was a shelled blob made out of snow. The rest of my FBs have all been killable and even a couple have been butcherable. My dwarves have been feeding off the last one, a "towering skinless frog" for four years now (over 1200 units of meat). I seem to get serpentine FBs a lot but have also gotten pterosaurs.

I get a lot of crundles wandering around, they bother me but it's not really that big a deal. Draltha are the ones that I hate with an absolute passion, mostly because they're strong, dumb, and tough so if one gets into your fort while you don't have any trained military it's just an absolute mess. Dabbling soldiers are not effective and it just runs around bleeding all over everything then freaks out and rips someone's head off.

Also, due to my magma addiction, I only have one layer of caverns so I end up missing out on the really weird stuff.

the most amazing thing i found down below was in a recent worldgen of mine.
No plants.
NONE.
the dwarven civs have no plump helmets or any underground plants.
no booze.
i am left to scavenge the surface and trade with dirty treehugging hippies for sunberries so i can have some quality booze...

plenty of blood thorns down there though.
