heh, tell me how much you need...

I said "Ahh, I guess that blow to my head was a little worse than I thought! I remember...you are my sister, Ernesta!

She smiled at that. Her smile was like here brothers...both inviting, and predatory. As likely to hold your hand as to drive a dagger through your back.

Yes, but I thought it would be nice if you got a say. She is from your back story.

Turn 3.2

oh crap, whatl the payment be i wonder, i dont have many talers, perhaps my well crafted dagger will suffice

She laughs. You can see all three of her teeth. "I am more interested in your skills than in your goods. There is someone you must kill for me."

Walk very, very slowly towards feast and prepare to befriend all the important people.

[6] You decide that it would be better to cartwheel to the feast! In the future. You hate waiting.

"I see that your memory is as sharp as always, brother. Come, we have work to do." She exits the cave, and you quickly follow her, after checking to see that you have all your equipment. Outside are two horses. One of them is a magnificent, black Arabian, the other is piebald, with a crooked back.

You really can both sig it.
But... That would break the laws of sigging! We can't have everyone running around with the same quotes. IT MAKES THEM UNFUNNY FASTER!

We ride! I'm guessing the crooked horse is mine...ride back to the camp and join the celebration, as well collect my pay and find my squire, if he survived...

On the way, ask what "work" she has in mind.

OOC: Usec, If I find my squire John, can you give him a basic list of skills and equipment and tack it onto my character information? I'm sure he can throw a punch and bail hay...his stats would only differ in that he wouldn't have any chivalry category until he's knighted.

Since he is one of my "followers" It would help both of us to write down his stats, since he will probably be fighting with me, I might train him etc. Do the same with my sister, if you plan on her following me around.

"well that is actually preferable, what do i need to kill"

"The Asturans will be recieving a great diplomat. The man you will kill is considered a great healer by his people. Kill him, and my friends will do the rest." You exit the hut, and mount the horse she gives you, and set out for Zanora, the Asturan capital.

You mount your horses, and set off. You ask her if you can go find your squire, and perhaps join in the celebrations. "There is no time, brother," she says. "Those infidels1 in Spain have been watching Cordovia and Astrua since you left."

"What possible interest could they have in a backwater such as this?"

"A backwater whose borders are only lightly defended? If they manage to conquer Cordova, the heartlands of Europe will be at their mercy."

"Then why not attack earlier? They could easily wipe the combined forces of Cordova and Astrua in an open battle."

"Yes, but what about fighting in one of the many mountain passes that dot their borders? Too agressive a move by the Almohades would bind the Cordovians and Asturans together, buying the rest of Christanity enough time to gather an army and crush their Mulism hoards."

"But if they offer King Edmund military help..."

"Exactly, that is what we are going to stop."

Together, you set out to Zanora.

1At this time in Spain, more than half was controlled by the Almohades, who were Muslim. However, for the past hundreds of years, the size of their territories have been slowly shrinking.

Gedwyn of Ernheim:
[5] You cartwheel to the feast, doing many flips and jumps as possible. Everyone is impressed. (New trait: Impressive) [1] Sadly, you are still an unknown freelance, and the only friends you make are other, unimportant freelances like yourself. Oh well.

One of the more important freelances stands up. "Fellow warriors!" he bellows, "We have won a great victory! (Everyone cheers at this point.) Yet even in these southlands, winter is upon us, and soon these peasants must return to their fields, to prepare for the coming spring. We may have crushed the Asturan army, but soon our army will dissolve. That is why I am offering 100 talers to any freelances who will come with me to take Segia, and give the Astruans there a good licking!"

Right, I need to give people other than Digital Hellhound traits. It would be nice.

Getting Ernesta's stats up now. Expect good agility, bad armour.

Transit turn!

Ride as fast as we can, only stopping for rest and food!

Any other free time, I'll let my sister teach me some Moorish language.

If we run into anyone, Ernesta does the talking, I try to look intimidating.

Dwarmin, postal service hasn't been invented yet. Plus I doubt your squire can read.

You can Ernesta ride as quick as you can to Zanora. She teaches you some Moorish, enough to understand a little bit. ((+1.0) Moorish)

The lands become colder each passing day, and you had to stop and wait several times for snowstorms. Ernesta was not happy at all. You eventually reach Zanora for the new year, and you get a great rate at an inn! The innkeeper always seems to look scared when you're around though...

Ride onward to do my mission, or at least to divine that its unjust

Unjust? How can helping an village healer lady be unjust? She is the opposite of unjust! And you're not just saying that because some random guy asked you why you aren't hurrying to Zanora. Not at all.

You reach Zanora by the new year. You wonder how you are going to kill this guy.

Sure, I'll do anything for 100 talers. To Segia!

You ride with the rest of the freelances (who needed the money) to Segia. When you reach the keep at Segia, everyone dismounts, only to find that the doors are barred. The important freelance (Who you learned will become the count of Segia if he takes it) yells at the people inside the keep to open the doors. Instead of opening the doors, they fire bolts at your party. [3] They fall short, and with a yell, everyone charges.

[9] You smash at the door. You hear wood splintering. [2] They're not very good shots, are they? [8] The door begins to sag underneath everyone's blows. [8] A bolt takes one of your freelances in the groin, [6] just as the door breaks. With a yell, you charge inside, swing at the nearest foe. [13] [7] Your blow strikes down a very surprised peasant.
A man-at-arms spots you, and you turn to face him. [14] [12] Your blow strikes his shield, [12 (Natural 10!)] but you easily cleave through it, killing him. ((+0.4) sword)

The fighting ends as soon as it started. You recieve your 100 talers, and you sell your loot to the local townsfolk (Who are just as happy to be Cordovian as Asturan.) You get 300 talers in total. With the roads being choked with snow, you decide to stay in Segia for the new year.

Go buy a Longsword and Chainmail Pants, ask around for possible future jobs (when the roads are usable again).
