Maxicaxi: You will be there for the first turn. (Just wanted to see how quickly I could get a turn done with four-five people.) Which country will you travel to? Astrua or Cordova? (Pick one please.) You have 6 language points. Divide them amoung any languages you want. (Put at least four in Norwegian.)

Dwarmin: A turn is however long I think it takes for everybody to do their actions. It's highly variable so that years can past fairly quickly. (Generally a minimum of a week to a maximum of a month.) The limit on the number of actions is whatever feels right to me. (Since everybody is in camp, a day will go by per turn, but since there is little to do, you can fit a lot into it.)

Frelock: Thank you for pointing out that a chain-mail shirt is worth the same as a hauberk. Fixed.

I thought that was too good to be true.  I'll keep the shirt then.  The latin's ok?

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

is there magic in this setting?

Thought I can't speak for Usec, I would theorize that "magic" sort of exists, if only because science hadn't explained everything.... If you get cursed by a witch or blessed by a saint in this time period, it doesn't matter if it's real or not-depending on how grounded in reality your character is, your probably going to believe it was real, which can make any prophecy self fufilling. So, yes and no!

But, as my character would say...

"Let the storyteller tell the story, let the fighter do the fighting, let the ruler do the ruling. A mans place is not to transcend our station ordained by God, or to trespass on another mans realm of expertise, lest we find our own affairs treated likewise."

Translation: Monarchy ftw, and It's Usecs story, he'll decide :P

but god himself created a corrupt order so he himself must be corrupt at heart

thus we must strive against all he has ordained

The autochracy is flawed, if they can turn loyal follower out on thir heads, and keep the loyal workers down, they are loyal to none but themselves!

Magic? Not really. Most of the magic you see, such as curses, blessings, faith healing etc., will be mostly mental. However you character will also see things he can't explain, which he will call witchcraft or an act of God. Getting Turn Less than One up now! (Frelock will spend his turn in the church. Doing religion things. I want to get to Turn One now. (That's when the fun starts.))

Turn Less than One

I practice training and sparring with the other mercenaries-not competing as of yet-and generally drink and gamble, boasting of my *many* adventures and romantic conquests.

Also, I challenge Gregorio of Argion to a friendly chess match. Truly, all knights must be as fast of wit as they are of sinew, no?

Quickly finding a translator, a merchant who looks slightly amused at the idea, you set off around the camp.

Instead of sparing, you find three freelances training on horseback, trying to catch a small, suspended ring in their lances. You boast a lot and challenge them to a contest of who can catch the ring the most times in a row. [6+2] They accept. Two of the freelances get out early, and despite barely catching the ring one time, the other freelance fails to catch the ring. ((+0.1) Horseriding, (+0.2) Lance)

You use your winning to buy the other freelances ale. [2] They scoff at your adventures, calling them stories. One of the freelances recounts an adventure from his life. While the translator cannot keep up, [5] you do learn a bit of Cordovian. ((+0.2) Cordovian)

You have a feeling that Gregorio of Argion is in another camp. Just a feeling.

fight in melee combat tournaments, read books on important languages and generally have fun until something important happens

You can't find any melee tournaments, so you spend your time trying to learn Asturan. [5+2-2(New language)] You learn quite a bit of Asturan. ((+0.2) Asturan)

I will, naturally, get drunk and fight in melee tournaments

As their are no melee tournaments, you go get drunk. [6] One taler buys a lot of booze. You are going to have a massive hangover tomorrow. (-1 taler)(New Traits: Can Hold His Ale, Heavy Drinker.)

Fight in melee turnaments

You can't find any.

Frelock:
You feel complused to go to church to confess your sins. You feel better.

Infromation: Word goes out that a melee will be held tomorrow in the camps at Ebro and Segia. Many freelances will attend.
