Freelance RTD - Turn 5 Happy New Year!
« on: June 28, 2010, 04:27:32 pm »

The kingdoms of Cordova and Astrua have been bitter enemies since the fall of the Roman Empire. In 1186, the infamous 58 years war would begin between these two nations, a war that would kill hundreds. In these years, men would rise and fall from power, as the kingdoms' lack of knights would call in freelances from all across Europe. It is during these years of 1186-1244 that Freelance RTD is held. A time of honor and horror. A time of chivalry and cruelty. A time of total war.

You will need some of the following to create a Freelance:

First Name: I'll accept anything. (Though I would like medieval sounding names.)

*optional* Common last names for peasants were based on your father's name (ie Son of John, Johnson.) or where you were from (ie Robin of locksley)

*optional* Nickname: Would usually be based on animals or your qualities. If you do pick an animal, it should appear on your coat-of-arms.

Starting Country: Which one will you start out in? (Being freelances, you are not bound to that country in anyway.)

Stats: You have four stats (Explained later), Agility, Endurance, Intelligence and Chivalry. You have ten points to divide between the four. It is suggested that most of the points be placed in Agility and Endurance, so you don't die in combat.

Equipment: Choose one of the three optional starting weapons (Sword, Axe, Mace). You also get 50 talers to buy any equipment you might want. (You keep the leftover talers) You can sell all of your starting equipment except for your free starting weapon.

Language: You get 6 skill points for language. Highly suggested you put most of it in the language of your starting country/country of birth.

*optional* Coat-of-Arms: Used to tell friend from foe on the battlefield. Post or describe your coat-of-arms. Free Coat-of-arms Maker

*optional* Background: Background information to flesh out your character. You will get no advantages from your background when starting. (But later...)

I have absolutely no idea what's going on in this fort any more. Migrants arrive, they die for some reason, the fort is flooded for another reason, then dwarves go mad, more dwarves die and I'm just laughing in my distress.

But that would reveal your low birth. Not something you want to do in this RTD.

First Name: Franciso Medina

Starting Country: Spain

Stats:
Agility 2
Endurance 3
Intelligence 4
Chivalry 1

Equipment:
Mace
Boiled Leather Pants: 35 talers

Remaining: 15 talers

Language: 4 points in Spanish, 1 point in English, 1 point in Portugese

Coat-of-Arms: White background, foreground 3 Red Lightning bolt symbols arranged laterally

Background: Fransisco Medina, as you may have guessed, is a Spanish Baron, and was well known for his extensive business deals with the far East. An influx of riches has earned him great renown, as well as many enemies, such as illegitimate children trying to claim his title, witches trying to curse him for destroying their hovels and ex-wives trying to send him to the bottom of the sea for breaking their hearts...being a notorius spendthrift, he has managed to lose most of his money-seeking an escape from boring things like assassination attempts, curses and debtors prison, he has become a freelancer. He expect his past might catch up with him someday *hint hint*, but he hopes by then he will be well protected by an army of mercenaries and a strong keep.

Which country will you travel to, Cordova or Astura? (Why else would I take all that time to make the two?)
