Battle of Longstream (Finally!)
December 8th.
Prebattle:
The forces of Cordova and Astrua warily look at eachother from across the plain. The Kings give speeches, to improve moral. While The Cordovian king's speech is fairly good, King Edmund's is terrible, sapping everyone's moral. (-1 till the end of battle.)
[3] Sven tries to hypnotise the Astruan forces to be better. Sadly, all he does is make himself forget the last ten mintues. Which at least makes him forget that terrible speech.
Battle:
With a cry, the two forces charge at eachother!
Sven:
You charge with the other knights, undoubtably saying something rude in Norwegian. You spot your first opponent.[11] [12] While you miss, you manage to intercept his lance with your shield. [5] Cracks appear in your shield. [5] Your enemy manages to keep his lance. You charge at each other again. [11][9] You hit his shield! [2] It looks a bit broken. [6] You keep a hold on your lance. The press of battle preventing you from wheeling around, so you draw your sword.[8 (Natural 1!)] [17] His sword seems to come out of nowhere, hitting you in the chest, easily passing through your chainmail shirt. You flop off your horse.
Gregorio:
Charging at the closest enemy, with a prayer on your lips. [16] [15] Your lance connects with his shield, [7] severly breaking it! [9] Keeping a hold on your lance, you wheel around, charging again. [8 (Natural 1!)][14] His lance manages to pierce your chainmail, giving you a mortal wound.
Gedwyn:
Lowering your lance, you charge. [11] [15] He manages to hit you in the arm. [Nothing!] The point merely bounces off your armour. [2] He drops his lance! Laughing, you wheel around, as he draws his mace. [12] [10] He manages to bring up his shield, [12] but you smash through it, knocking him off his horse. Grinning, you draw your sword. [13] [8] In one fluid motion, you send it crashing down as he struggles to rise. [10] You cleave his skull in two. ((+0.4) sword, (+0.4) lance, (+0.2) horseriding) You look for more foes to kill.
Teil:
You prepare against the hail of arrows that never came, but you gladly charge the enemy knights. [10] [17] Your enemy's lance buries itself in your chest, [8] giving you a mortal wound.
Franciso:
You leave John with the other peasants, as he does not have a horse. Not knowing the word for charge, you start late. [18 (Natural 10!)] [7(Natural 1!)] But when you get going, you are just as effective, killing the first enemy you see. [9 (Natural 1!)] [15] ((+0.2) lance,(+0.1) horseriding) Someone else returns the favour, his lance striking you in the head.
Postbattle:
The Asturan forces, seeing the battle going clearly against them, flee!
The Cordovian forces loot the bodies, and set up camp. A feast is prepared for tomorrow.
Sven:
[Survival roll:1] Some archer finds you, and stabs a knife between your ribs. Your last thought is that you have failed your father.
Gregorio:
[Survival roll:3] You use your last dying breath to find peace with your god.
Gedwyn: You loot the dead bodies. You spend a bit of it buying drinks for everybody. They all are impressed at your strength. You manage to keep 142 talers at the end of the day. (New trait: Strong)
Teil:
[Survival roll:10] You wake up in some dimly lit shack, your wounds bandaged. An old woman comes in and says, "Teil, your will to live is extraordinary. A pierced lung, which would have felled any other man, is but a scratch to you." (New trait: Will to Live, New scar: Scarred lung)
Franciso:
[Survival roll:8] You wake up in some sort of cave. A young woman walks in, and in perfect Spanish, says, "Ah, Franciso, I always thought you looked like an ugly dog." (New scar: Gash on the face)
