I think "menaces with spikes of beard" might be a tad more dwarfly. Beard should totally be a recoverable item after dwarf death, with value proportional to how much ass that dwarf kicked in life.

Can you decorate menacing spikes with spikes that menace? (the trap things).

I suggest you don't think too much what you build and where. When ever you need something, build it as close as possible to where you need it. that way your fortress will eventually become epic
Because god knows your duke will demand a kitten silo in his office.

The throne is, indeed, one of the most epic spiky artifacts I've ever heard of.

I can picture it in my head.  The great Dwarf Lord, sitting on his Throne of Ruby, which menaces with spikes of Black Diamond, drinking from his cup that menaces with hematite spikes, sleeping on his menacing, spiky bed, holding a golden-spiked ceremonial mace and wearing a helm that menaces with spikes of dog-leather and pig-tail cloth.  And on his magnificent breastplate, a butterfly.  In pastel blue chalk.

WHERE IS MY MANDATE?!  Call the Hammerer! (No, not the one with the pink hammer decorated in butterflies, the other one.  The one with the hammer that menaces with spikes.  What do you mean "We don't have one of those"?  Shall I have you also subjected to Dwarven Justice?!  So be it!  To the ... the ... *sigh* ... the ☼maple bed☼ with the picture of the plump helmets on it.)

I wanted to point out that a pike is in itself a very large, maybe even menacing spike

ledgekindred has issued a new mandate!

Make items that menace with spikes (3/3)

According to the new dev page, it looks like that mandate may not be too far in the future!

Yyyyyyessssssssssssssss!

"Olin Balúshrir, Weaponsmith has created Robekurvad, a menacing steel spike!"

"This is a menacing steel spike.  All craftsdwarfship is of the highest quality.  This object menaces with spikes of steel and hematite."

and it's worth 283,200 dwarf bucks.

I'm sorry! I take it all back!

I think that if you look into the game you can increase the change of making dwarfs moody if you could destoy a few artifacts.
