Cockney is the only one that I know that sounds similar. And it's because Australian colonies right at the start were primarily inhabited by British convicts. The type that'd sound a lot like Australians today, I'd wager.

I expect that's also the reason white South Africans sound like Australians.

I spent like 6 hours today under the brutally hot sun of the Outer Banks.  My sleeping bag is stained with the sweat that dripped onto it from my face as I rolled it up.  I created a giant earthworks around the base of a beach umbrella so the wind wouldn't carry it away.  Last night I ran barefoot on the beach under a rising full moon.  It was fun but I'll be glad to wake up in an air-conditioned room tomorrow.

I work like a motherfucker, and I'm as tan as I'm going to get.  When your family tree goes back to Scotland, Sweden, and Poland, you just don't tan very much.

Well you see, all this working, tanning, swimming, running barechested, and working out, I'm just too damn attractive. I need to have an interest in a few indoor activities because I really need a break from being swarmed with oogling women. If you had this problem, you'd want some peaceful alone time too!
